Because where the memories start, the present is put on hold and she forgets to live in the moment. And the moment she starts remembering, the cage of the past imprisons and the grubby fingers of memories can’t help but grasp the black, metal bars and shake it around as she tumbles and turns until she is dizzy and defeated. Its hold on her only drowns her further in the water with the settling sediments until she too reaches the dark and sandy rock-bottom.

Oh, how she yearns to be free from the past that still holds its reins on her. Oh, how she wishes to swim past the treachery of the sea, wishes to leave behind her memories, and make her way to the surface. To, for the first time in what seems like forever, breathe in fresh air and see a radiant sun beam light into her life. To feel revived and not chained to the bottom of the ocean with her memories, suffocating from lack of oxygen.

Oh, how she wishes to be above it all, sifting with the sand on the shore.

A/N: Don’t know where I was going with this when I started. I feel like I didn’t finish this, but at the same time it feels like I did. I guess since I don’t know exactly where this is going, I’ll have to put it on hold for now. But it feels nice to write like this once and awhile. No plot. No direction. Just the drive to write until I’ve drive to write until I’ve run the pure inspiration river dry. I’ll just let this sit for now. I’ll see if I can use it later.
