Old Idea I never posted on the new blog - The Potion of Warding
Brewing an Echo Shard with an Awkward Potion gives you a new unique potion - the Potion of Warding. Much like how no mobs would dare spawn in the Deep Dark and intrude on the warden's territory, the Warding effect stops all hostile mob spawning around the player for 20 minutes (or 40 if you use Redstone)
This affects all your regular mob spawning, but doesn't stop things like mob/trial spawners, Pillagers in Pillager Outposts, Guardians in Ocean Monuments, Raids, Phantoms (just sleep lol), and other such special cases. Not gonna make a lot of uber-dangerous structures a cakewalk, but it will finally mean you can build during the night without having to worry about torch-spamming your builds or fighting off hordes of mobs.
I also really like that it's the first (and only) Non-Renewable Potion. It's a very powerful effect, but if you run out of echo shards you'd better go find another Ancient City to get more!
