If you don't mind me asking, do all of your siblings' names start with 'S', too?
Yup. All five of us, and our parents, and for a couple years when I was a teenager our pets too. (That was an accident.) Seven S's. Super corny, right?

writing meme that I totally had no idea Iād posted but @deengoblue poked me, so here goes:
Pick a character Iāve written and I will explain the top ~three to five ideas/concepts/etc I keep in mind while writing that character that I believe are essential to accurately depicting them. Request: Furiosa
1. Furiosa is a warlord. Sheās an Imperator. Sheās not Imperator Prime, but sheās arguably more important to Joe, since sheād been assigned to guard his wives and sheās responsible for protecting his cargo. There is SO MUCH depth to her character thatās barely touched upon in the movie. Her status alone infers that sheās done absolutely barbaric and terrible things, and being a gremlin of a human being, that was something I really really loved exploring in L&B. Sheās a prisoner as much as the Wives, but sheās survived by participating in an incredibly cruel regime, and thatās gotta leave a mark.
2. Seven thousand days. She counts in days, and sheās counted for years. Me, I canāt do simple math in my head, so the amount of dedication and concentration it takes to remember every single one of those days speaks to how painful the experience has been for her. Sheās not looking forward. Sheās just surviving.Ā
3. She doesnāt hesitate. When she and Max get into that first fight, sheās not trying to subdue him. Sheās trying to killĀ him, as quickly as she can. She doesnāt have the luxury of mercy, and that ties in with the two earlier points. To survive and succeed in the brutal, hypermasculine Citadel culture, sheās had to hit first and hit hardest, without any hesitation.Ā
4. She cries when she kills her crew. She isnāt a mindless murder machine. She knows exactly what sheās doing and what it costs, and she does it anyway. The movie makes it clear her crew trusts her - see: Ace - but she doesnāt hesitate to drive them into the storm, and that ruthless is fascinating.Ā
5. When she calls out her Vuvalini affiliation, she declares herself without being aggressive. Her arms are open. Her posture is unthreatening. She lets the Vuvalini come to her. She lets them touch her. Sheās very soft in this scene, and itās a complete contrast to the violence of her fight with Max and the upcoming fight through the Armada. Even after seven thousand days, even after doing whatever sheās done to rise in Joeās regime, sheās not so deeply embedded in the Citadelās culture that she canāt codeswitch when she needs to.Ā
Furiosa is probably the most complex and fascinating character Iāve ever seen onscreen. Sheās more villain than she is hero, and she really doesnāt have a redemption arc. Sheās a vehicle for the Wivesā liberation, but her own trauma is hardly explored.Ā
Gah, I love her so much. Thereās probably a dozen other things Iām forgetting, but these are my top five. Thanks for the prodding, @deengoblue!

While I am glad our upstairs neighbors don't own a small pony-sized dog, I would trade their yippy howling little bugger for a couple of decent sized woofers hands down.
Iām sure my next door neighbor would empathize. And yeah, long distance househunting means the prospective landlords canāt meet her in advance, which is unfortunate. She can be quite charming when she wants to be. I mean, sheās got my parents fooled.

Kitty will watch ALL night long. āThanks, Grandma. Love you, too.ā Actually my toddler niece would probably like it. She fell in love with a large black Halloween cat with demon red eyes. But it was only a dollar, so she got to take it home. She cuddles the hard plastic demon cat and it watches Moana with her (Iām guessing it watches everything).
Oh my god, kids are great and they get attached to the strangest things sometimes, donāt they? Thatās adorable.
My grandmama had a fair amount of creepy cat kitsch, most of which was Siamese themed. But I donāt remember anything as viscerally disturbing as this particular cat.

deengoblue replied to your post: Whereās my Goinā Through the Motions Barbie,...
I think I had one of those as a kid. Happy perfect Barbie face, but her hair was half melted and her head didnāt always stay on. She sat in a high-backed chair a lot, and none of the other barbies interacted with her much. But she was the designated troll caretaker.
āDesignated troll caretakerā, oh my god. Pretty sure I had that Barbie too. I relate very strongly to her these days.
deengoblue replied to your post: Oh my god, I got the job.
Iām a little late, but Congratulations!
Thanks :) Itās such a relief, oh man.
deengoblue replied to your post: We adopted another cat. His name is Gizmo; will...
What a great name. Did he come with it, or did you name him?
Came with it. Isnāt it great? Of course, he doesnāt really look like a Gizmo. I had a friend with a Yorkie/Chihuahua mix when I was a kid who was also a Gizmo, and it was kind of alarmingly appropriate.
