Amsterdam North used to be a very busy community due to the shipyards and an airplane factory. Now they are closed. A resourceful community needs to discover how to float and fly without the ships and planes.
De Ceuvel is a cleantech playground built on a former shipyard. Everything here has been made with the MAKE DO WITH WHAT YOU HAVE mentality, also found in the community of Amsterdam North.
With this inspiration HET WARE NOORDEN was created: a label to promote creative re-use and its resulting products. It is a platform connecting De Ceuvel and the local community.
Broken, old, unused, waste? All we see is opportunity to build.
HET WARE NOORDEN is about making stuff together.
To kick off the label, we partnered with locals and makers from Amsterdam North to create four light installations on the longest outdoor boardwalk of Europe at De Ceuvel. All with creative re-use in its core, using materials like fishing nets and discarded school tables.
THE TRUE NORTH IS NOT A PLACE. IT IS A DIRECTION.
