Patton kills Deceit and they have to watch him reform, but what comes back is not him, it’s not him at all- the once near-glowing golden eye turned dull and white; the soft yellow scales now colored a harsh, all-consuming black; his clothes lose their hue, fading to grey, not that it matters as he sheds his gloves and hat and long-sleeved coat, which only reveals more pitch colored scales; and the way the double-headed snake logo rips itself thread by thread from his shirt, speaks to this.

The way he himself speaks to this is so much worse.

With a grin far too sharp, eyes way too cold, and with far too much amusement he rips into them, their insecurities, every last secret that they shield themselves with- he talks and taunts and hurts them, because he’s everything Deceit isn’t, after all, he’s honest.
