âMaking money off of your niece with her intelligence?âÂ
The moment she had decided to help her beloved, (Y/N) knew what she was getting herself into. It was the first topic every night when the investigators parted ways and only her stayed behind to enjoy a little bit of privacy in their lately secluded relationship. It hasnât been this dangerous since the Los Angeles BB murder case.
âYet she isnât intelligent enough so you plan on combining our abilities?â
While Watari was on the line with the investigators who had gathered in front of Ryuzaki, the main head of the Kira case. âWait Ryzaki!â, said Aizawa, one of the members of the Japanese Task Force, the very organization to catch Kira. âIt does sound a little bit off and dangerous Ryzaki.. another humans life is at stake.â, said (Y/N) calmly as the delicate hand got a grip on her chin, thinking about what plan the detective just proposed. âWhat does it even accomplish?!â, yelled the same male at the pale man who sat in front of the computer screens.Â
âObviously, to see if the notebook works.â, he answered. His plan was to pick one criminal who was scheduled for an execution and write their name into the Death Note. âWatari, I want you to contact a leader of a country who would agree to this.â, Ryuzaki stated calmly into the microphone, awaiting his butlers response, although nothing came. The only sound that came through the speaks flying into the ears of the investigators was a loud crash- âWatari?â, asked (Y/N) with concern lacing her voice, eyebrows furrowed she takes a step forward.
âWould you still like to meet her, L?â
âWatari whatâs wrong, answer us.â, stated Ryuzaki in a low tone, although he as well was concerned for the man he knew almost his whole life. One thing led to the other and- âData deleted?â
âWhatâs going on!â, asked Matsuda as he stepped forward too, to get a better look at the situation unfolding before everyone. All of the screens in front of the Task Force read âAll data deleted.â, were the computers perhaps corrupted? No, this canât be.
Ryuzakis head lowered, his long and soft dark bangs falling into his face. âNo, this canât be-!â, almost dropping the act, (Y/N) stopped herself. Even in situations like these, she cannot afford to risk her life and give away her true identity, even if something had happened to her beloved uncle.
Luckily, (Y/N) lover and partner in crime beat her to it, cutting her off by an explanation and confirming her dangerous train of thought: âI told Watari to delete all the possible files he can delete if something would have ever happened to him.â, his eyes growing as colder and fixated as a rock on the screen reading the letters, âIf something wouldâve happened to him.. you donât mean that he couldâve died, do you..?â, asked the usual cheerful Matsuda carefully.
âH-hey, wait a second-â, stuttered Aizawa as he was glancing around the room, (Y/N)s ears perked up, âwhere is the Shinigami?!â
Taking a spoon, ready to dive into the plate full of sweet chocolate cake, Ryuzaki spoke up, âEveryone, the Shinigami--â, but before he could continue his sentence, he stopped in his tracks, sucking in the air sharply, making (Y/N) turn around quickly, as if a lightning had forced itself through her veins.
It was silent, âRyuzaki..?â, asked Matsuda quietly.
Lâs grip loosened as the cold spoon softly made its way out of the grasp of the males slender, pale fingers before meeting the ground harshly. A few seconds in and soon Lâs body had followed the spoon, right about to hit the linoleum floor.Â
(E/C) orbs widening, seeing her lovers figure fall, she acted quickly, catching up to Lâs body and falling with it, only to land in Lights- âL, whatâs wrong- hey!!â, she started, softly yet harshly at the same time touching Lâs cheek. Her heartbeat quickening, âAnswer me, damnit!â, she said as she tried to shake the man back into consciousness, yet he wouldnât come back.
All that his onyx eyes caught on to were the ones of the most beautiful woman in his life.
âYes.â
âWould it be alright if Iâd bring her around tomorrow by 8?â
âYes, mister Wammy. I will make sure to be free of any cases.â
âL donât you dare to joke around, wake the hell up!â, switching back and forth to japanese and english, (Y/N) called out to L. He on the other hand hadnât found the strength to respond in any form- he didnât feel pain, strangely enough, he couldnât feel anything. Thoughts clouding his mind he couldnât decipher which was real and which were memories of his life. He heard the voices of the Task Force, Light, Watari, (Y/N)- it was all a mix, echoing in his head. Feeling a certain wetness on his face, like a gentle and warm rainfall a piercing scream was heard.
âUncle Quillsh, will we go meet the boy you were telling me about?â, setting down her teacup, the little girl smiled as Quillsh Wammy answered with a âYes Miss (Y/N)â. âWe will leave today?â, another yes and another excited giggle: âSo this is why you made me dress up this fancy.â Letting her short legs dangle down the seat, she let her uncle Quillsh finish up tying her hair neatly into two cute ponytails, before jumping down and taking his hand into hers.
âWhy do you think am I suited as his partner, uncle Quillsh?â, asked the smart seven years old. The old man only chuckled at his niece curiosity, âI am almost certain you will get along quite well with L.â
Opening the door to the mansion he left the orphan to solve âpuzzlesâ, as heâd like to call it, he lead his little niece inside. âWith your outstanding knowledge about human emotions, Iâm sure it will be easy for you to keep the little guy in check.â
âIn check you say...â, pouting at Quills choice of words, too lazy to attend to more work than the investigations the little girl had to go through under her alas. Waiting for a response after they had knocked on to a door leading to the detectives room, the little girl wondered: would he be another puzzle to solve? Not that she didnât mind, just like the mastermind himself, she loved the difficulty. But humans are sure far more difficult to deal with.
Stepping inside the room, she noticed a boy sitting in the middle of it, in front of a seemingly uncountable number of computers. âGood morning, L.â, said Quillsh, âThis is my niece, (Y/N)â, gently pushing her into his direction, the boy didnât mind to turn around. He didnât say anything, but that never necessarily meant that he wasnât interested into something.
One simple look at the little boy was enough for the girl to determine, that he actually wasnât as hard to solve as she thought he would be. She wouldnât even have to keep up with his intelligence, for some reason, that she can not explain, had an easier time than anybody else to read the mononymous person L. He seemed emotionless (thatâs how Quillsh would describe him as) but he was still human after all.Â
As the silence grew, L slowly turned around, wondering why she hasnât spoken up- thatâs how girls usually are right? Not like he would know though, he never had a friend.Â
Th darkest sets of eyes, circled by an unhealthy dark tone met up with beautiful (E/C) globes.Â
Yet it wasnât for her beauty that sparked his interest, it was her unique nature.
He secretly cursed himself in those 40 seconds that he was not able, in his whole life, to ask this very girl- this woman- to be his wife.
âPlease, (Y/N), calm down..!â, one of the investigators tried, yet Light only dismissed them. Maybe for his amusement to continue watching his enemy squirm, but something stirred inside of him.
Gently gazing intently into her visage, it was like L was just laying there, untouched by the deaths kiss. But now he was gone, and yet here she was, her puzzle left unsolved.
