Even if we catch someone under his control, they’ll likely lose their powers and any memories of their crimes, so in the end, pursuing them becomes futile. But at this point, we have no way of knowing if that’s the case! Cheer up, would you? “Cheer up”? No, I’m sorry, I can’t. It’s probably better if I stop trying so hard. By chasing Kira so recklessly, we’re just putting our lives at risk for nothing… yes, it’s just a waste of time.

The fact that I’ve shown my face and that I’ve sacrificed twelve FBI agents are both losses... but I will win in the end. This is the first time I’ve put my life on the line. Let’s show Kira that we’re willing to risk our lives...

They have to hunt each other down, but neither of them know the other’s name or face... and the first one who gets found is dead! Humans sure are interesting!
