I wish Wammy's would be dismantled so no further children are harmed and L doesn’t feel like a replaceable tool.
I wish Mello would realize he doesn’t need to compare himself to others anymore and focus on what he does better than most rather than what others do better than him.
I wish Matt would realize he doesn’t have to numb himself out, that he doesn’t have to live in a pendulum swing of stagnation or over exertion, and just enjoy life in a happy middle ground.
I wish Near would realize he doesn’t have to be someone else, he doesn’t HAVE to follow in L's footsteps, that he can have his own life, his own interests, his own identity.
I wish Matsuda would realize he's not as stupid as others make him out to be and stop trying so hard to prove he's not stupid, which just pushes him to make even dumber mistakes to prove he's not stupid.
I wish Aizawa would learn his loyalty and devotion - while it can be a liability - is simultaneously one of his best qualities. That he never turns his back on anyone.
I wish Mogi would learn he can speak up every now and then.
I wish Misa would learn her own worth, that she shouldn't extend such loyalty to a man who doesn't want her and treats her like trash.
I wish Watari would learn people, especially children, are not tools for him to use.
I wish Soichiro would learn he did not fail as a father for his daughter being abducted and his son being a mass murderer.

Uhhh?!?! 2015 live action Watari and L, I would die for you? I love these two so much. I’m only three episodes in, but Misa is handled really well so far and I think she might surpass the flaws that people point out in the original anime. Also Light struggling with his morals (or at least being affected emotionally) because of all the people he’s killed is really cool to see.

Nice discussion of Watari and L in the Death Note series:
DK if this is a hot take but while Watari was a great servant to L : r/deathnote
BUT I do have to note that in the JP live actions, the relationship of Watari and L was much more affectionate, I guess, in a proud guardian type. We see more of them in L:CTW, therefore this post mainly based on the third movie, and with some snippets of I & II.
In the beginning of L:Change the World, when L was monitoring Naomi Misora's second cooperation with him on a mission after LABB, L told Watari "I feel happy when you are by my side"
Watari responded with a grateful and content smile.
Naomi completes the mission. L complimented, "12 seconds quicker than I expected. She is excellent."
Watari replied, "You are excellent, too."
L muttered a "thanks."
Look at this proud father:
In Death Note I, when the task force first met L, they had a puzzled look and looked back at Watari, seeking confirmation, and Watari replied with a nod and smile, confirming that it was L himself.
Look at this proud father:
Still in L: Change the world, with some main plot scenes, Misa asks Watari "Mr. Watari, are you Ryuzaki's father?"
Watari smiled and said, "No, I'm..." And before he could finish it he had a heart attack and passed. (which was the result of his name written in the Death Note)
When mentioning L, his eyes are full of love.
When L sees Watari in the mortuary, we could see that he paused when he covers Watari, blinked, and pursed his lips. To my interpretation, Watari to L was important, and it did hurt when L lost Watari.
He paused, blinked, saw him one last time, and covered.
And pursed his lips, blinked again.
I believe that this represents the peak of L's emotions in expressing sadness.
After notifying Wammy members of Watari's death, "Watari has passed away. I will mourn his death" L buried his head.
He then works frantically, finishing all the cases at hand. For the plot, it was because he only had 23 days left to live, as for mentally? Distracting himself, or maybe by finishing all the cases that Watari assigned to him to mourn Watari.
After receiving F's message, he looked at Watari's photo, and accepted "F's gift."
A similar passage was indicated in novel ver. L:CTW
L stared at the short message for a moment. Then he glanced at the picture of Watari on the desk. “Is this to be my last job, Watari?”
When the boy ran into L's candy room, he said, "This room...only Watari and I can come in."
In the ending L offered to name the boy. The caretaker of this orphanage (probably a branch of Wammy's House in Japan) said, "Watari would want you to do the same." It also shows that in Wammy's organization, people know that Watari has expectations of L, perhaps not only when it comes to solving crimes but also in showing some extent of affection and care to others.
As L walks away from the orphanage, "Watari...I want to live a bit more in this world."
In the end, L dies peacefully with Watari's photo at his side.
As for in the novels, we see multiple times of L mourning Watari.
“I am the one who killed Watari. If I hadn't failed, he would
still…”
He takes his photo with him whenever he goes.
L took out a crumpled picture of Watari from his jeans pocket. “Watari. Perhaps my death won't be as 'quiet' as I had hoped."
He took out a picture of Watari he’d carried with him since his mentor s death. “I’m an orphan too. Watari, my greatest supporter, was killed by Kira. I, too, am alone in this world. That’s why I understand how you feel.”
So we could conclude that:
Watari is proud of L, and has expectations.
Watari not only has expectations to L solving cases and being a great detective, but also being a nice person
L cares about Watari, emotionally attached to him, and it shows in a subtle way.
L sees Watari like a father figure and the only person that he sees as company in the world.
I think that's all that I remember for now, I'll check again to make sure I didn't miss anything.
