One day is one day 😝😍
When I was a young teenager, I attempted, on a couple of separate occasions, to keep a journal of letters addressed to "my future husband." I was inspired to do so after reading contemporary Christian musician Rebecca St. James' book Wait for Me: Rediscovering the Joy of Purity in Romance. The book takes its name from her song, Wait for Me, a pop ballad that despite its incredibly banal chorus I attempted to like for its message. Rebecca St. James has been known since pretty much the beginning of her career to be a promoter of sexual abstinence before marriage and a general mascot for the True Love Waits/Christian purity movement. And I was so on board with that! The letters to My Future Husband were mainly introducing who I was at the time (look at this school photo of me!) and giving him a list of preferred baby names. I'm sure I parroted language from Rebecca about how I was waiting for, praying for him, wait for me too, etc. It was all very boring. When I came out as a female attracted to the feminine, I wrote poetry. So.

Dear Future Husband #4
Dear Future Husband, It is Valentine’s day today and I am a wee bit conflicted. Do I accept these Valentine’s from young men who hope to date me? Or do I keep waiting for you? I don’t want to date anyone else than you. Because it feels like a betrayal almost. I want you to be the only man to know me intimately. And intimately does not only mean sexually. Although I want you to be the only one to know me in that way. I just don’t want to enter a relationship with you with emotional and relational baggage. Are you dating anyone? What are your views on this? Love, Me.
Dear Future Husband #3
I am currently watching my neighbors son, as they had some errands to run. To be quite honest, I have always questioned having children of my own. But as I watched the 2 year old boy hug his mother goodbye I questioned my thoughts on children. I have never really been all that fond of young ones to be blunt. But.. As I care and watch over this sweet innocent boy, I question everything. Maybe when I meet you my thoughts and views will change. When I meet you, maybe I will WANT to raise a child with you. Who knows. I have always had a heart for foster care though. Of children 10 and up really haha. They would be able to comprehend that the world isn’t all bad. Isn’t all hurt. There are people out there who will love you. That is what I desire to do. Show the love they deserve. Be a safe place. Ya know? I wonder what your views on children are? Love, Me.
Dear Future Husband #2
Dear Future Husband, Isn’t it bizarre that we are both on the same planet. Looking at the same sky, moon and stars? We are both clueless of each others existence. Clueless of the roles we will play in each others lives. Crazy huh? What are you doing? Who are you thinking about? I can’t help but wonder. I desire to know you. I desire to look into your eyes and see the love radiating from them. I desire you. Love, Me.
