In that same episode she has a conversation with lane about jess and how she feels safe with dean as opposed to always being unsure wether jess will stay around or not

since Rory never faces her emotions, she never fully moves past them, instead, she looks for the things jess didn’t give her, safety and security, albeit in the worst way possible
