though  he  was  still  in  a  mood,  ryan  couldn’t  help  his  scoff.  “  what  do  you  mean  some  reason  ?  i’m  cute  as  fuck,  even  if  you  don’t  want  to  admit  it.  ”  it  was  how  he  would  usually  respond  to  someone,  chest  puffed  out  like  a peacock  with  false confidence  but  his  tone  still  wasn’t  his  usual.  ryan  hadn’t  even  expected  to  run  into  silas,  and  even  if  he  did,  he  didn’t  expect  to  hold  much  of  a  conversation  with  him.  sure,  they’d  spent  a  night  together  but  that  wasn’t  unusual,  nor  did  it  mean that  they’d  talk  after  the  fact.  a  little  part  of  him  was  pleased  that  they  were  speaking,  some  unexplained  connection  still  having  him  shooting  looks  at  silas  as  subtly  as  ryan  could  manage.
