Anyways, any more Dead leaves headcanons?

Put this ask off for a bit cause headcanons can take a lot out of me, but here we gooooo. Remember guys, check the tags 'dead leaves' here on my account and you'll find more info and such on it.

---Pierrot's relationship with this MC was complicated but ultimately ended up being one of the most important relationships of his entire life.

---After all these events are finished, the circus is SERIOUSLY considering leaving up some kind of warnings for other monsters (and maybe even humans) not to enter this area.

---While Harlequin worked through his self-worth and embraced love again once MC was in his life, their ultimate demise in a way proved his original, bitter feelings towards the emotion. At times, though he is ashamed of himself after, he gets angry that MC 'did this to him.' Made him love again only to lose it. During these rare nights, he even hates MC and wants to get rid of the rings, but he can never bring himself to and ends up hating himself more for even thinking it.

---When MC first died, Harlequin was shocked that Pierrot was the first to come and comfort him. He even lashed out at the clown, bragging about how you chose HIM over Pierrot. This did hurt the silent clown, but he just stood there, no emotion on his face, and let Harlequin yell at him until his knees gave out and fell to the ground crying. They hugged all night after that. Even some days Pierrot would come in at night, listen to Harlequin say cruel things, and just stay by his side the entire time. It wasn't until a month or so later that Harlequin stopped yelling at Pierrot and just accepted the embrace he was there to give. Their further reconciliation began that day.

It's true~

Though I can see TT getting into a fight with DL Harlequin about this after Jester's death: "It's NOT the same," the blue creature stood up, his mouth practically frothing, "we always expected your 'pet' to leave us, it was only a matter of time! Jester was special, a god amongst men and demons alike--this shouldn't have happened! HE WASN'T SOME WEAK HUMAN--HE WASN'T--!" "Like you?"

Harlequin's tired eyes narrowed as Bil's throat tightened, short claws extending as far as they went before lunging at his newest prey.

GREAT QUESTION WHOA

Before he met you, he celebrated with his family regularly. Nothing special, just a nice day off to do what he wanted and a request for what he'd like to eat on his birthday. Really, the family dinner dynamic was more of Jester's insistence than anything else, but it did make Harlequin feel like he belonged, so he enjoyed those times.

After he met you, his birthday often lasted a weekend rather than just one day. Sure, they'd do the same family dinner as always, but you often went above and beyond for him---taking him on dates to places he was dying to go. Whether it be an underground rave, a private showing of a movie (as you rented out the theater), or taking the car out for a drive so that you two could have your own personal picnic, feeding each other foods so spicy that you both run towards the nearby lake to cool off.

Once you are gone.....things are different.

He forces himself to get up....some birthdays he even excuses that he's 'not feeling well' or has to finish painting his set, which would take all day and supposedly cannot wait. In order to placate his family's obvious concerns however, he WOULD go....but he'd request privately to Pierrot to not cook as much human meat in his food.

The next day after his birthday, when he'd usually spend time with you, is the only time he DOES request a day off from Jester as well as not to be disturbed.

AND then...he sleeps.

All day.

If instead of Harlequin falling in love with MC, it was Jester, what would his trial with the fairies be like?

Jester I think......idk.....I just don't see him being 'dead leaves' sad for a human. I think, at best, he'll do what Stoker does, feel sad, but keep a memento that reminds him of who they were.

Think Serie in the anime series Frieren: Beyond Journey's End---how '''cold''' she is while simultaneously caring for her past students.

That's how I'd see a Dead Leaves Jester---UNLESS, one of his family died, esp. Bil---then he'd be DL Harlequin levels of crushed. But a human? Where he KNEW it was going to happen no matter how healthy the person was? He'd readily steel himself against those emotions, prepping decades before you die---he'll even collect a band of rings, as per Stoker's advice, for every human lover who made an impact in his life.

As for his trial, in this made-up scenario where he was in love with MC and they're dead---his trial of resolve would be him being the cause of MC's death--as a means to guilt him that maybe he took up so much of MC's short life for his own selfish desires to have them with him. This dead MC would talk to him, tell him about the life they wished they'd lived instead of the one they were forced to with him, etc.

but i am not sure if it you had thought of this. maybe you have! i was so interested hearing you talk about your ocs and had thought of this when rewriting things. but how would stoker help with harlequin with his grief over the loss of mc in the dead leaves universe? or maybe he has?

That being said.....Stoker would understand more than anyone what Harlequin is going through. He'd be there for him, listen, even be the punching bag (not literally, just figuratively) if Harlequin needed. However, Stoker also believes that activity and creating new goals can help someone deal with grief. He'd suggest to Jester to give Harley more jobs to do (not much with people though, but YES with other circus members). Help him gradually ease into talking to humans and the things he's gone through with his human loves.

That being said.....

....Stoker....

....maybe one day....

....Gives Harlequin a gold chain....

.....and says that when he's ready, Harlequin can put the rings there.
