Teen Thieves Mistake Dead Man’s Remains For Cocaine

Police in Missouri say three teenagers broke into a home and allegedly stole a number of items, including cremated remains from the homeowner’s father.  The suspects ages 17, 16 and 15 probably weren’t looking to snatch the ashes of a dead body, instead authorities believe they thought the powder was cocaine. It was only after one of them tasted the ash remains, according to the St. Louis Dispatch, when they threw the box out the window of the car.

This robbery occurred in November and the suspects were charged this week after tracking a stolen Xbox through an IP address. Fox 2 Now says the teens took the gaming system, jewelry and prescription drugs. One of the suspects is identified as 17-year-old Devin Gesell. The other two have not been identified.

The St. Louis Dispatch said the teens knew the family and saw that they were going to be out of town because they posted it on Facebook. Gesell also went on to tell police he was the “look-out” person while the other two went inside to take the items, this after busting out a window.

Currently, reports say Gesell is charged with burglary and two counts of theft. The juveniles are with authorities who handle underage cases and Gesell has a cash bond set at $10,000.

As for the ashes, Gesell said he does not remember where he and the other two teens were driving when they were thrown away.
