A metaphor for a nonlocal feature of Louis de Broglie pilot waves, or the related, alternative version by David Bohm with his quantum potential, is found in some modern technology. It's only a metaphor, though; and only for one of the many features of these waves/potentials.
With classical radios eg of the AM type, the intensity of the wave translates, more or less, into the intensity of volume in the loadspeaker of the radio.
But with modern technology, such as the codecs used by electromagnetic transmission of audio signals to bluetooth loudspeakers, it is the form rather than the intensity of the electromagnetic wave that decides volume. The form--ie, the information content of the wave--sets volume to the audio also transmitted by the same wave. Eg: Even if the bluetooth connection is weak, if there is a connection, you can still set the volume to maximum.
As David Bohm pointed out in his Causality and Chance in Modern Physics, it is the form rather than the intensity of the quantum potential that determines its effect. And very similar can be said of the de Broglie Pilot Wave interpretation of quantum physics as well. So we see here how the bluetooth codec is a metaphor: the form, ie, the bits inside its connection, determines the effects, rather than the intensity of the connection. But, as Bohm liked to say, all metaphors are limited. And the limitation in this metaphor is of course that the bluetooth wave is an electromagnetic type of wave, whereas the quantum potential notion, as well as the de Broglie pilot wave notion, concerns nonlocal patterns.
