i sorta imagine that Inkies have incredibly good hearing, not in the way that they can hear things from super far away, but in the way that they can recognise specific individuals from the tiniest fluctuation in their voice.
however just like how Inky voices all sound pretty much the same to Raydians(spikies have a different pitch but that's it), Inkies find it extremely difficult to recognise specific Raydians from voice alone, as Raydian voices almost sound like a cacophony to them.
this would probably also mean that when a Raydian speaks the Inky language, for an Inky it would sound shaky and have a prominent accent, and for the vice versa where an Inky speaks in the Raydian language their voice would sound flat and even a bit forced from the perspective of a raydian
You'd have to be when your society composes entirely of clones!
But yeah, I can see that.
I also think that it's very unlikely than many inkies within INKT would be able to speak the raydian language, or any other language than their own (they'd probably think letting in any form of new ideas run the risk of "contaminating the collective). Comrade Black can probably speak fluently though.
There'd also be various reasons for the raydians to leanr the inky language some picked it up during the occupations, some learnt it for diplomacy or because they're in an area with INKT defectors, some learnt it for history, some because they just wanted to.
I also wonder if the inkies see in a different spectrum to the raydians. Like they can see UV or something.
