falling asleep on them (ăŁË -ïœĄ)ᶻ đ đ°
tags pre-relationship, fluff!!
warnings none
a/n: I have more characters written for this but Iâm splitting it up so that it isnât giant (Iâm also lazyâŠ)
senku
senku pretends to be unfazed when you nod off near him, but his mind immediately calculates how to keep you comfortable without waking you up.
heâs used to working alone for hours, so the sound of someone breathing softly beside him feels unfamiliar. but itâs not unpleasantâit makes the space feel alive somehow.
when your head slips onto his shoulder, he stiffens like a startled cat before forcing himself to relax.
later, heâll make fun of you for âcrashing like a dying battery,â but secretly think about it for days.
it was late in the lab, the faint hum of glassware filling the silence. senku had been talking for what felt like hours, explaining chemical reactions with his usual sharp enthusiasm. you tried to keep upâreallyâbut his voice was oddly soothing when he wasnât lecturing, and your eyes grew heavier by the minute. the next thing you knew, your head slipped against his shoulder.
senku froze mid-sentence, the word âreactionâ dying in his throat. âoh, great,â he sighed under his breath, but he didnât move. the warmth of your cheek against him made his pulse spike in a way he wasnât ready to acknowledge. he glanced down, watching your lashes flutter as you breathed softly, utterly unaware of the chaos youâd just caused.
after a while, he adjusted the blanket draped over his legs and let it fall over yours too. âwhat a pain,â he whispered, but the corners of his mouth twitched into a faint smile. maybe the science could waitâjust this once.
gen
when you fall asleep on him, genâs first reaction is amusement. a sly grin creeps onto his face as he tilts his head, âwow, I must be really boring tonight.â but he doesnât move awayânot even an inch.
heâll watch you out of the corner of his eye, analyzing every detail like youâre some psychological puzzleâthe steady rhythm of your breathing, the way your hand twitches slightly in your sleep.
he hums absentmindedly or plays with a strand of your hair while you rest.
when you wake up, he immediately pretends it never happened.
you hadnât meant to fall asleepâone minute, you were listening to gen talk about his âbrilliant psychological insights,â and the next, your head was slumped forward, the warmth of the fire lulling you under. when he realized you werenât responding anymore, he paused, blinking down at you. a soft laugh escaped him, low and quiet.
âeally-ray?â he murmured, leaning back against the log. âout like a light. and here I thought I was fascinating.â his tone was teasing, but his movements were careful as he shifted just enough for your head to rest more comfortably against his shoulder.
the firelight flickered across your face, and gen found himself staring longer than he meant to. he wondered if you dreamed easily, or if your mind stayed just as restless as his when things got quiet. his fingers twitched, almost brushing a loose strand of hair from your cheek, but he stopped himself with a quiet exhale. âdonât go reading into this, alright?â he whispered, though you couldnât hear him. âIâm just⊠being nice.â
chrome
when you fall asleep next to him, chromeâs brain short-circuits. he immediately starts overthinkingâshould he move? wake you up? or just sit perfectly still until the end of time? he ends up choosing the last one.
despite his nerves, he finds himself softening as the minutes pass. heâs not used to being the one people rely on, and it makes his chest ache in the best way.
he tries to act casual when anyone passes by, but the red in his face gives him away instantly.
later, when youâre gone, heâll sort through the stones you collected and quietly reminisce about the feeling of you beside him.
you and chrome had been sorting through minerals for what felt like hours, the pile between you slowly shrinking as the night dragged on. your voice had gone quiet a while ago, and he assumed you were just tired of talkingâuntil he felt a sudden, warm weight against his arm.
he glanced down and nearly dropped the stone in his hand. your head rested against his shoulder, eyes closed, completely out. âuh..â he started, panic spreading across his face. he didnât dare move, afraid youâd wake up and see how red he was.
minutes passed, and his nerves settled into something sweeter. he carefully shifted so your head rested more comfortably. âyou really trust me, huh?â he mumbled, a tiny smile tugging at his lips. when kohaku called his name from outside, he hissed, âshh!â like itâd disturb you, then he realized how ridiculous that sounded.
ryusui
ryusui doesnât mind when you fall asleep on himâin fact, he loves it. to him, itâs proof that even your subconscious canât resist him.
heâs greedy with moments like these. even if you just slump against his shoulder for a minute, heâll shift to make it last longer; adjusting his position so you donât wake up too soon.
if anyone teases him about it, heâll laugh it off with a flamboyant, âwhat can I say? Iâm irresistible, am I wrong?â
after you wake up and apologize, he waves it off as if itâs nothing significant. yet he stays beside you, just in case you decide to drift off again.
the night breeze was gentle, carrying the faint scent of salt and smoke across the deck. the ship rocked in a slow, steady rhythm beneath the stars, and ryusui leaned against the railing, recounting some grand story. you tried to listen, but his voice eventually blurred into the sound of the waves. before long, your head dipped, and you slumped gently against his shoulder.
for a second he froze. then that trademark grin spread across his face. âha! canât even stay awake for my genius?â he declared, tone dripping with mock offense. but he didnât move you away. instead, he adjusted his arm to better support your head, his movements uncharacteristically careful.
he glanced down at you, the moonlight catching the curve of your cheek, and something in his chest tightened. greedy as he was, he decided not to wake you just yet. moments like this were worth keeping. he leaned his head back, closing his eyes briefly as if committing the feeling of your weight against him to memory.

Heyyyy could I pretty please make a request for nsfw Sai Nanami in this Sai Nanami-less time?? Specifically perhapes, just maybe, a reader who has a thing for hands??
Kicking my feet rn reading your stuff btw
đąđș â After finding out about how much you love his hands, Sai takes matters into his own !
âââ
Sai is handsome to say the least, blessed with great features and good hair. But his hands, oh, theyâre a different type of handsomeâ soft and slim, with a few veins that makes them look almost delicate, with these circumstances it was natural for you to develop a love to hold them, but that love was quick to turn into something more intimate, more deeply rooted and fuelled by your burning desire for him.
âfuckâ right there..!â you whimper, struggling to hold onto a thread of self control that quickly slips out of reach, its especially hard when Sai is showing no mercyâ if you want hands, youâre getting them.
heâs knelt infront of you as youâre perched on the edge of the bed, grasping onto the soft fabric that drapes onto your bed, in an effort to ground yourself from his fingers plunging in and out of you.
his eyes are glued to your pussy, the slick sounds of arousal and his name sliding off of your tongue like music to his ears, the sort of song you could listen on repeat and never get bored. He swallows hard, a deep blush creeping up his neck as he tries to keep his composure. âmm, you like that? right there?â
you nod frantically, hips twitching and thighs shaking as he doubles his efforts, fingers working to rub that perfect spot inside you that gets you arching off the bed. his thrusts are calculated and precise, making mental notes of exactly what makes you tick. âyouâre closeâ he doesnât necessarily ask, more of a statement as he feels you fluttering around his fingers. âyeah, oh shit, please donât stopââ
everything becomes a blur, the room, him and yourself as you reach your peak, your mind singularly focused on the sparks of pleasure travelling around your body, causing you cry his name in ecstasy.
as you come down from your high, his fingers still pump in and out of you, drawing out each ounce of pleasure whilst you tilt your head back, searching for a breath. His eyes meet yours, glimmering in the light âwas that good? you want more?â
he sure knows how to put those pretty hands to good use.

PINNED- ryusui oneshot!!!
ryusui x reader smut!
nsfw- this has nothing to do with my ryusui fanfic greedy, just a random oneshot
The ship creaked quietly under the night sky, half-finished. You hadn't expected to be cornered against one of its wooden beams, Ryusui's body pressed flush to yours, his mouth devouring every word you might have said.
His kiss was hot, demanding, tongue sliding against yours like he owned you already. He broke away only to grin down at you, eyes burning with a hunger that was more dangerous than the sea itself.
"Do you know what it does to me, my treasure," he purred, one hand tilting your chin up, "to see you shining even in this primitive world? To know you are mine?"
You opened your mouth to retort, but his hand slipped beneath your clothes, and your breath hitched instead. His fingers trailed deliberately slow across your stomach, lower, lower, until they brushed where you needed him most. The smug tilt of his lips deepened when you shivered.
"So wet already?" he teased, voice low. "Ah, but of courseâyou're exquisite in every way."
Your protest came out as a gasp when he pushed your legs apart, fingers slipping against your folds, stroking lazily, deliberately, until your knees weakened. He pinned your wrist above your head with his other hand, forcing you to lean into him for support. Every movement was calculated, controlled, yet desperate in its own wayâgreedy.
"Look at you," he whispered against your ear, teeth grazing the lobe, "my divine treasure, trembling under my touch. Say it. Say you're mine."
When you refused, biting back the words, he chuckled darkly and dropped to his knees before you could stop him. His golden eyes glinted up at you as his hands spread your thighs apart, and then his mouth was on youâhot, hungry, unrelenting.
You cried out, the sound muffled quickly by your own hand, but Ryusui yanked it away. "No, no, my love," he said, licking you with a slow drag of his tongue. "Let the world hear how beautiful you sound."
He buried himself between your thighs, lapping at you like a man starved, tongue circling and plunging until your hips bucked against his face. He groaned into you, savoring your taste, drinking every drop of your pleasure. When you came undone, trembling and gasping his name, he licked you through it, greedy for more.
But Ryusui was never satisfied with just one taste. He rose, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, grinning like he'd found gold. "Perfect," he said, voice husky. "But I'll need more."
He freed himself from his pants, hard and aching, pressing against your slick entrance as he leaned in to kiss you againâdeep, messy, letting you taste yourself on his tongue. Then, with one slow, deliberate thrust, he filled you.
The stretch made your breath hitch, and he groaned low in his throat, burying his face against your neck. "Ahh... tight around me already. You were made for me, weren't you, my darling?"
He didn't give you time to adjust before he began moving, hips snapping forward with a rhythm that was both punishing and worshipful. Every thrust drove you higher, his hand gripping your thigh to hold you open for him as he took and took and took.
"Beautiful," he panted, pressing kisses across your throat. "Every sound, every shiverâit all belongs to me. Say it. Say you're mine."
This time, when the words tumbled from your lips, he groaned like he'd claimed the world itself. He fucked you harder, faster, chasing his release while coaxing yours again, greedy as ever. And when you broke apart beneath him a second time, he spilled into you with a shuddering moan, holding you tight as though he'd never let go.
Even afterward, when your body was trembling and spent, Ryusui's hand stroked your cheek, his smile softer but no less intense. "Exquisite," he whispered, kissing you gently now. "The greatest treasure of all is youâand I'll never stop being greedy for you."

Senku Headcanons
Holy shit i'm sorry this took so long. It was not my intention to leave y'all hanging for so long. Especially for an ask when I said my inbox was open. Life's been crazy but that's no excuse. Also really weird question but I ended up making myself a Seto Kaiba (yes from Yu-gi-oh!) multipart fic as a birthday gift to me. lmk if anyone is interested in me publishing it lol. One more thing like two other people tagged me in a song trend and I swear I'll get to it too! I just don't know who to tag next haha. Senku Ishigami x Reader warnings: minor spoilers but they're not really important word count: 2,064 not cross posted on any other platform
Pre-Petrification
Yâall probably started out as classmates who argued about your specific hyperfixation interest lmao.
He noticed you because you challenged himânot emotionally, but intellectually. Most people couldnât keep up, but you corrected him and were right. (You were NOT playing. It was more than likely something stupid like FNAF.)
He totally pretended he wasnât interested at first. Played it cool, but Taiju saw the way Senku looked at you when you talked about your interests.
Homeboy wants to learn everything about everything. Hence his sudden bugging about your knowledge on a topic he isnât fully educated on.
You both stayed after school oftenâhim for his experiments, you for your own interests. Eventually, you started hanging out by accident more often than not.
He offered you coffee from a vending machine one day and casually said, âItâs statistically proven that shared caffeine intake boosts cognitive synergy.â You think that was his weird way of flirting.

Stanley Snyder SFW Alphabet
A = Affection (How affectionate are they? How do they show affection?)
stanley's a man of very few words, he only says what's necessary. that's until you get to know him of course. once you get closer to him after let's say 5 months, he begins to start small talk with you himself, something that he would've deemed "inefficient" or "not optimal" just 2 months ago. so short answer yes he's affectionate but it takes time. his love language would be acts of service, quality time, and physical touch. since he spends a lot of time away from home, he would love the domesticity of just spending time together in a shared space and just feeling your body against his when cuddling. again, he's not a man of many words so he'd rather show his affection through action by holding your bags, helping you reach something from the high shelf, making sure your hair looks fine in public, etc, just all really mundane stuff.

â¶â.Ë GEN ASAGIRI
The bouquet toss was supposed to be elegant (like Xeno always says)
Yuzuriha turned, counted, and released the flowers in a perfect, sparkling arc toward the waiting group of unmarried guests. And you were standing a little off to the side, mid-conversation with Francois about whether the second cake layer had enough citrus when it happened.
ââand I still think the glaze could have used a little moreââ
Wham.
The bouquet slammed into your face with the force of a mildly aggressive houseplant with petals exploding everywhere.Â
One stem poked you directly in the cheek. Another flower somehow wedged itself on your head like it had been aiming for that exact spot all along. And the rest of it get stuck to your dressâŠ
There was a beat of absolute silence.
Then the entire wedding erupted.
People were literraly howling. Taiju was bent over while Yuzuriha had both hands over her mouth trying not to ruin her makeup from laughing to much. Even Senku made a strangled sound that might have been a laugh. And next to all of those people stood your boyfriend, Genâwho had been standing a safe distance away with a drink and an expression of shock and disbelief.Â
He took one look at your flower-covered face and completely lost it. He laughed so hard he had to lean on a nearby table. Actual tearsâŠ
âOh my god,âÂ
he wheezed, pointing at you with the hand that wasnât clutching his stomach.Â
âStraight to the face. With no graceful catch. JustâBOOM.â
You stood there, face still stinging with petals stuck to your hair and the front of your dress, while Gen wiped his eyes and kept laughing. He eventually wandered over, plucked a particularly stubborn flower from your bangs, and held it up like evidence.
âIâm keeping this. Proof that the universe has a sense of humor and terrible timing only for you my dear~.â
The teasing did not stop after the reception.
It continued for weeks.
Every single day Gen found a new way to bring it up. He would casually reenact the moment with exaggerated slow-motion arm movements whenever you walked into a room. He started referring to the bouquet as âyour mortal enemyâ and would dramatically shield his own face whenever Yuzuriha walked by with flowers. Another time he somehow convinced Chrome to draw a highly inaccurate comic strip of the incident and pinned it to the community board.
But he never once mentioned marriage. Not a single hint. No âso whenâs the weddingâ jokes. No meaningful looks. Just pure, relentless, bouquet-related teasing.
And the more he teased you, the more something started shifting in the back of his mind.
At first it was just amusement. Then it became a habit. Then, somewhere between the third laughing about it and the fifth slow motion joke, Gen realized he kept imagining what it would look like if the next bouquet was for you instead of at you.Â
I mean the thought was ridiculous. He was Gen Asagiri, the Mentalist, a popular showman. The last person on earth who should be thinking about quiet, private, non-theatrical life decisions.
And yet.
One evening, almost a month after the wedding he found you sitting on the quiet stretch of cliff overlooking the seaâfar from the village lights and far from any audience.Â
The wind was soft. The water below was dark and calm almost scary. And he walked up without any of his usual flourish, hands in his pockets, and sat down beside you so quietly that you already suspected something.
But you didnât decide to talk and let yourself enjoy the quiet he is for once giving. And he didnât say anything too.
Then, very quietly:
ââŠIâve been thinking about that bouquet.â
You groaned.Â
âGen. Itâs been weeks.â
âI know.âÂ
He smiled, small and almost shyâan expression so rare on him it looked like it belonged to someone else.Â
âThatâs the problem. The more I brought it up, the more I kept⊠considering the other part of the tradition.âÂ
He glanced sideways at you, eyes softer than usual.Â
âThe part where the person who gets hit in the face is supposedly next.â
You blinked and Gen decided to looked out at the water that was suddenly very interested in the horizon.Â
âI had an entire performance planned, you know. Lights. Smoke. A floating ring. Dramatic music. The works. But every time I tried to picture it, all I could see was you with flowers stuck to your face and me laughing like an idiot. And somehow that felt more honest than any stage trick.â
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a simple ringânothing flashy, nothing that sparkled under stage lights. Just something quiet and carefully chosen.
âSo I decided to skip the show,âÂ
he said, voice lower than youâd ever heard it.Â
âNo audience. No teasing. Just⊠thisâŠus...âÂ
He finally looked at you properly, a faint flush on his cheeks that he was clearly trying to ignore.Â
âWill you marry me? Even though the last time flowers were involved you nearly lost an eye?â
You stared at him for a second. Then you started laughing, because the mentalist of the Kingdom of Science was sitting on a cliff proposing with zero planned plans and a slightly embarrassed expression. And genâs ears went pink at the sound of your laugh.Â
âYouâre laughing. Thatâs not the reaction I practiced for.â
âIâm laughing because this is the most you and not you thing youâve ever done,âÂ
you managed, still grinning as you took the ring.Â
âYes. Obviously yes. But Iâm never letting you forget the bouquet.â
Gen let out a long and dramatic sigh of relief, then leaned over and rested his forehead against your shoulder.
âDeal, as long as the next time flowers come near your face, theyâre in a vase and not airborne.â
You laced your fingers through his and watched the water with him, both of you quiet for once. For a man who lived for the spotlight, it was the most perfect proposal he could have given.
â¶â.Ë KOHAKU
Kohaku had been a walking disaster from the moment she stepped into the wedding grounds and you had appointed yourself her full-time babysitter for the day.
She tried to sit cross-legged on the formal chairs until you gently pulled her upright. She nearly tackled Taiju in a congratulatory hug that ALMOST sent him flying into the cake table but he just laugh about it.
During the ceremony she leaned over and loudly whispered,Â
âWhy is everyone so quiet? Is there a predator nearby?âÂ
And you had to shush her while the entire front row tried not to laugh. She also kept eyeing the decorative flower arrangements like she was evaluating which ones would make the best emergency weapons. At one point you caught her halfway up a support beam âfor a better viewâ and had to talk her down like a particularly athletic cat.
By the time the bouquet toss was announced you were already exhausted and fondly exasperated.
âStay close,âÂ
you told her, linking your arm through hers.Â
âNo climbing. No tackling. No challenging anyone to a race. Just⊠stand here and look pretty.â
Kohaku frowned.Â
âI can look pretty and be ready for combat.â
âNo combat.â
She huffed but stayed putâŠmostly.
Yuzuriha turned, counted, and threw the bouquet in a soft white arc and suddenly Kohakuâs competitive instincts flared instantly. She launched herself upward and snatched the flowers out of the air with both hands, and landed in a perfect combat stance, bouquet held high like a freshly won trophy.
The crowd erupted in cheers and laughter.
Kohaku looked around, triumphant, then glanced at the flowers in her hands with mild confusion.
âI caught it, What do I win?â
Someoneâprobably Gen (againâŠ) because of course it was Genâcalled out,Â
âWhoever catches the bouquet is supposed to be the next one to get married gorilla!â
Kohakuâs eyes lit up with pure and unfiltered understanding.
She turned to you, still holding the slightly crushed bouquet, and nodded once like she had just accepted a new village mission.
âThen we have to get married. Right now.â
Before anyone could stop her she dropped to one knee in the middle of the dance floor, scanned the ground, picked up the nearest decent-sized rock, and held it out toward you with complete sincerity.
âReader,âÂ
she declared in her clearest warrior voice,Â
âI challenge you to marriage. Immediately. With this rock.â
And she looked so serious about it.. Taiju was wheezing while Yuzuriha had tears streaming down her face trying to hide her face in Taiju shoulders. Even Senku looked away so nobody could see him laugh.
Someone in the back shouted, âThatâs not how it works!â while still crying with laughter.
Kohaku looked around at the reaction, then down at the rock in her hand, then back at you. Her confident expression faltered just a little.
ââŠIs the rock too small?âÂ
she asked, completely serious.
âI can find a bigger one. Thereâs a good boulder near the tree line. Wait here.â
She started to stand while already scanning for superior geological options, and you had to grab her wrist before she could sprint off on a rock-gathering quest.
âKohakuâwait. Thatâs not⊠you donât have to marry someone the same day you catch the bouquet. And you definitely donât propose with a random rock in the middle of someone elseâs wedding.â
She blinked at you, still kneeling with her rock still offered toward you.
Â
âBut they said the person who catches it gets married next. I caught it. Youâre right here. The logic is sound.â
You were laughing so hard your sides hurt while around you the guests were still recovering, and Kohaku simply glanced at the rock.
Eventually someone (this time it was Yuzuriha after she stopped crying of laughter) managed to explain the tradition: the bouquet only meant âsomeday,â not âright this second with the first available stone.â Kohaku listened with increasing skepticism, then looked down at her rock one more time.
âSo I donât have to marry you immediately?â
âNo.â
âBut I still caught it.â
âYes.â
She considered this, then slowly stood, brushed off her knee and kept the rock anywayâtucking it into a pocket she asked the dress to have.
âFine,âÂ
she said, grinning that bright, fearless grin that always meant no well.Â
âSomeday, then. But next time I propose, Iâm bringing a much bigger rock. And maybe a lionâs head for decoration. Itâs from the village style.â
You pulled her into a quick hug still laughing, while the rest of the reception continued around the two of you. Kohaku spent the remainder of the evening proudly carrying both the bouquet and her rejected proposal rock, explaining to anyone who asked that she had âalmost gotten married today but the rock wasnât sufficient.âÂ
Every time she looked at you with that triumphant little smirk it was impossible not to smile back. For a warrior who had zero understanding of wedding customs she had somehow managed to create the most memorable proposal the Kingdom of Science had ever seen.
â¶â.Ë UKYO SAIONJI
Ukyo had been restless all day.
He stood near the edge of the gathering for Taiju and Yuzurihaâs wedding, his hands clasped behind his back, his eyes flicking between you and the cluster of unmarried or simply single guests waiting for the bouquet toss.Â
Every few seconds his gaze would drift to Yuzurihaâs hands, then back to you, then away again like he was trying not to look too obvious. He was the usual calm person of the group so he couldnât seem nervous just for a bouquet tossâŠ. But his shoulders were a little too tight, breath a little too measured, and many others factors that could scream nervousness to anyone.Â
You caught him watching once and raised an eyebrow and he simply offered a small, sheepish smile and mouthed something that looked suspiciously like âgood luck.â
When the moment came, the bouquet left Yuzurihaâs hands in a soft, graceful arc. You stepped forward with the others, hands half-raised with Ukyo, who had somehow drifted closer without anyone noticing??
The bouquet was coming to you but suddenly it changed direction and the bouquet smacked squarely into his chest.
Silence.
Then the entire courtyard exploded into laughter.
Ukyo stood frozen, bouquet clutched against his formal jacket with his ears that quickly went red, his mouth opened, closed, opened then opened again with zero sound coming out.
You covered your face with both hands, shoulders shaking.
âOh my god.â
âIââÂ
Ukyo looked down at the flowers, then at you, then at the flowers again.Â
âI was⊠hoping you would catch it.â
âClearly,âÂ
you managed between laughs while someone in the crowd shouted (probably GenâŠ), âLooks like the sonar expertâs next!â and Ukyoâs face somehow managed an even deeper shade of pink. He carefully extracted himself from the circle of teasing with the bouquet still in hand, and made his way over to you with the air of a man who had just lost a very public battle against fate.
âI sincerely hoped it would be you,âÂ
he admitted quietly once he was close enough. You took the bouquet from him, grinning.Â
âSo now youâre the one whoâs supposed to get married next, huh?â
He made a small, mortified sound and looked away. And let me tell you that the teasing did not stop that night. It continued for days.
Every time you saw him you would hold up an imaginary bouquet and stage-whisper,Â
âCatch!âÂ
He would flush, mutter something about unluckiness and try to change the subject. Hell even Chrome started calling him âBouquet Boy.â with Gen somehow obtaining a tiny pressed flower and left it on Ukyoâs desk with a note that simply said Destiny called. You answered. Even Senku, in passing, dryly remarked that Ukyoâs âprobability calculations appear to have suffered a critical system failure.â
Ukyo endured it all with quiet dignity and progressively pinker ears.
Then, several evenings later, he asked you to walk with him along the quiet stretch of shoreline past the new docks. The sky was soft with early stars since the light pollution had disappeared thousand of years ago. No one else was aroundâjust the gentle sound of water against sand and the occasional distant laugh from the village.
He stopped near a smooth driftwood log and turned to face you, hands fidgeting with the edge of his sleeve.
âIâve been thinking about this for a long time,âÂ
he said, voice low and steady despite the color rising in his cheeks.Â
âLong before the wedding. I kept waiting for the right quiet moment. Somewhere no one would interrupt. Somewhere it could just be⊠us.â
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a simple, carefully made ring, nothing flashy, just something he had clearly put thought into.
âI know I was the one who caught the bouquet,âÂ
he continued, a tiny self-conscious smile tugging at his mouth.Â
âAnd youâve been reminding me of that fact very thoroughly. But I still wanted to be the one to ask.â
You opened your mouth, already grinning, and he immediately held up a hand.
âPlease donât say it yet.â
âI was only going to point out,âÂ
you simply said innocently,
âthat since you caught it, maybe I should be the one proposing.â
Ukyoâs entire face went scarlet. He looked away, then back, then covered his eyes with one hand for a second while a helpless little laugh escaped him.
âYouâre never going to let me live that down, are you?â
âNot a chance.â
He lowered his hand, still blushing furiously, and held the ring out properly this time.Â
âThen let me ask anyway. Will you marry me? Even if the flowers decided I was next?â
You stepped closer, took the ring, and kissed him softly while he was still trying to recover his composure.
âYesâŠalways yesâ
you said against his smile.Â
âBut Iâm still going to tease you about the bouquet for the rest of our lives.â
Ukyo laughed at that and rested his forehead against yours.
âI can live with that. As long as itâs you doing the teasing and not chromeâŠâ
â¶â.Ë RYUSUI NANAMI
Ryusui had been preparing for this wedding like it was his.
Weeks earlier he had commissioned Yuzuriha (even thought itâs HER weeding) to make you a dress that could only be described as criminal in its beauty with layers of soft fabric that caught the light every time you moved, details so fine they looked almost spectacular.Â
On the day of the wedding he presented it with the flourish of a man unveiling a treasure map.
âYou look like the sea itself decided to walk on land,âÂ
he announced, spinning you once so the skirt flared.Â
âAbsolute masterpiece. Yuzuriha outdid herself. I may have to commission an entire wardrobe after this.â
âYou already did once RyusuiâŠâ
Then came the bribery phase.
Ryusui spent the hour before the bouquet toss quietly slipping stacks of notes (and in one case a small gold coin) into the hands of every unmarried person within reach.
âJust⊠donât catch it,âÂ
he whispered to one guest.Â
âFor science. For the economy. And mostly for my future happiness.â
Most people laughed and pocketed the money while fully intending to jump for the flowers anyway. Gen, of course, accepted a particularly generous sum that he manipulated ryusui in giving in, and bowed, then immediately took three large steps backward with both hands raised in surrender.
âConsider me permanently retired from bouquet combat,âÂ
Gen declared.
âMy pockets are full and my conscience is clear.â
When the moment finally arrived, Yuzuriha turned and released the bouquet in a perfect arc. You reached up almost on instinctâand the flowers landed squarely in your hands.
The crowd cheered.
But Ryusui looked like someone had just handed him the deed to every ocean on the planet.
He was happier than you. Visibly he looked like he was vibrating. He crossed the distance in three long strides, scooped you (and the bouquet) into a spin that left your feet off the ground and set you down only so he could grab both of your hands.
âYES!âÂ
he laughed, eyes bright enough to rival the lanterns.Â
âI knew it! I felt it in the wind the second she threw it! Destiny has excellent taste and even better aim!â
He was already talking a mile a minute, completely carried away.
âIâve been thinking about the ring for weeksâsomething substantial, something that catches the light like a lighthouse at night. And the proposal location! Maybe on the deck of a new ship at sunset, or on an island no oneâs named yet and you would name it of course. The wedding itself will be a celebration for the agesâfireworks, a feast that lasts three days, music that can be heard from the next continentââ
He paused only long enough to grin at you, completely unrepentant. And you laugh at him to calm down.
âIâm not proposing right now, of course. That would be rushing the schedule. But the schedule has officially moved up. Significantly.âÂ
He squeezed your hands, still laughing with you.
âYou caught the bouquet baby... The universe has spoken. I am simply the happiest man alive to hear it.â
Someone tried to remind him that catching the bouquet only meant ânext,â not âimmediately plan an entire maritime wedding empire.â But Ryusui simply waved the comment away like it was a particularly unhelpful cloud.
âDetails,âÂ
he said cheerfully.Â
âBeautiful, exciting details that we will discuss at length. Preferably over champagneâ
The ceremony continued and every time his eyes found yours across the crowd he looked even more delighted than before, like the bouquet had been the best gift he had ever received and he hadnât even been the one to catch it.
â¶â.Ë SAĂ NANAMI
Getting Sai to the wedding required actual strategy, mild threats, and one very determined physical intervention.
You found him half-hidden behind a stack of crates near the coding station with a controller still in hand and the screen glowing with whatever game he had been deep in for the last three hours.Â
When you announced it was time to get ready he made a sound like a dying modem and tried to sink lower behind the crates.
âI donât need to go,âÂ
he muttered.Â
âI can just⊠stay here. Code. Play. Exist. Quietly. Without people looking at me.â
You had to drag him out. Then you had to physically dress him, because the formal clothes Yuzuriha had prepared were still hanging untouched and Sai had zero intention of putting them on himself. He stood there like a particularly reluctant mannequin while you buttoned the shirt, fixed the collar, and somehow got the jacket on him without him vanishing into the nearest shadow.
âThis is cruel, this is a human rights violation. I could be optimizing code right now.â
At the reception table he immediately retreated into his own little world. Head down. Fingers twitching against the tablecloth like he was still at a keyboard. Every so often his lips would move soundlessly clearly debugging something that only existed in his head. When people tried to talk to him he gave short, distracted answers and went right back to staring at the wood..
You had to nudge him every few minutes just to make sure he was still present.
When the bouquet toss was announced, Sai looked up in mild panic.
âDo I have to stand up?âÂ
he asked.
âYes.â
âCan I stay here and pretend Iâm coding?â
âNo.â
You pulled him along anyway. He hovered near the edge of the group hoping the main quest would ignore him. After a while Yuzuriha threw the bouquet. There was a brief flurry of reaching handsâ
âand the flowers landed cleanly in yours.
The crowd cheered but Sai went completely still.
His face turned the color of a ripe tomato in under two seconds. He stared at the bouquet in your hands like it had just revealed something he was not emotionally prepared for. His ears burned and his fingers twitched once against his side, then froze.
He didnât say a single word about marriage.
But you could practically see the thought hit him.
For a long moment he just stood there, eyes flicking from the flowers to your face and back again and somewhere behind that intense blush his mind had clearly wandered off into a quiet, private daydreamâyou in a wedding dress, soft light, no crowds, no noise, just the two of you and maybe a very small, very peaceful ceremony where no one expected him to make a speech. The image made the corner of his mouth twitch upward for half a second before he caught himself and looked away.
You stepped closer, bouquet in hand, and tilted your head.
âYou okay?â
Sai swallowed, nodded too quickly, and mumbled something that might have been âcoolâ or âfineâ or possibly just static. He shoved his hands into his pockets like he needed somewhere to put them before they did something embarrassing.
The rest of the evening he stayed close to you, quieter than usual, still pink around the ears every time someone mentioned the bouquet. He never brought up once the tradition by fear of getting pink again. He never joked about being next either by fear of simply fainting. He just kept glancing at you when he thought you werenât looking as if the idea alone was enough to make the entire overwhelming wedding feel suddenly worth attending.
He looked a little happierâquietly, secretly, and completely in his own head.
