The thing about DC shying away from Roy's addiction is that it can perfectly be rewritten into why the fab 5 version of Teen Titans disbanded and how that impacted not only their friendships but their relationship with their adult counterparts.
Like this big scary thing has happened to their friend and member of the team, who was oblivious, who spotted signs and chose to ignore it, who maybe brought it up with an adult who suggested keeping an eye out?
How did all the adults react? Who was sympathetic, who wanted to ban the friends from seeing each other, who made a teenager take a drug test, who trusted their teen 100% and just comforted them?
How did they hang out after? Did they talk it out, did they ignore, did they cry because they couldnt help a friend?
It's a golden oppatunity story wise and it feels so obvious to have one of the comic rewrites focus on this for an issue or two?
