genuinely how are some people so caught up in their holier than thou attitudes and condescending mindsets that they think it’s cool to shit on people for not catering to their fucking needs. like this is a comment i received earlier today and its still fucking baffling to me:

how does someone think this is remotely okay to comment on someone else’s post??? mind you this was the post it was left on. god forbid i make a post about dick being unhinged and giving people wedgies and biting them and getting indoor pool and eating cake and shooting a nerf gun while damian rides a pony.

literally nearly every single post that i made that includes a headcanon or AU will start off with me literally fucking announcing a headcanon or AU??? i genuinely have no fucking idea why people think that headcanons and AUs need to perfectly align with canon??? AU fucking stands for alternate universe, and yet you’re surprised and upset that it’s fucking different from canon???

secondly i’m so fucking tired of people in fandom spaces saying shit like they’re “actually fans” or whatever the fuck, and trying to get other people to prove their knowledge on canon and shit. just because i make crack AU posts about characters doing ooc shit doesn’t mean i don’t have knowledge of canon?? i have a shit ton of posts where i do serious analyses of canon too?? like multiple of them?? throughout my blog??? literally look at like any of the asks i’ve answered???

third of all, there is a huge fucking difference between spreading misinformation/mischaracterization and creating headcanons/AUs. i think most people get annoyed when other people mischaracterize someone or spread misinformation and play it off as canon, i also get annoyed when people do this. but you cannot expect fanfics, AUs, and headcanons to be 100% canon. most people who write this stuff are NOT saying that their writing or interpretation is canon, they’re just sharing their own additions, alterations, and interpretations of canon content.

fourth, you’re not a better fan than someone else for interacting with the source material more than them. comics are not a free resource and are not always accessible to people. while i do read comics myself, there are some people who aren’t able to, and who do end up getting a majority of their information about canon from ao3 and social media because those platforms are more easily accessible to them. instead of trying to shame them and push them out of fandom spaces, why not just try to inform them on canon and share what you can with them? like i genuinely cannot fathom being so upset by a group of people who just want a space to interact with other people and share their ideas.

lastly, getting mad and sending me hate because my ideas and my interpretations of canon don’t fit into yours is so incredibly weird considering the fact that this is MY blog, not yours, and nobody is forcing you to interact with it. i see shit that i don’t like or don’t agree with all the time, and wanna know what i do about it? i fucking scroll and move on with my day. i’m not your guys fucking mother and i shouldn’t have to hold your hands and teach y’all etiquette but it seems like i have to considering none of you seem to grasp the idea that if you don’t have nice shit to say, then you should go ahead and shut the fuck up. you have your own blog where you can bitch about your feelings on headcanons and AUs and other shit, there’s no reason for you to bring that shit onto my blog.
