I was going to write a New Years fic where Buck and Eddie were planning to kiss at midnight as a joke, but then right before midnight everything suddenly gets really chaotic, like Jee throws up or falls or something and Denny and Chris suddenly have an argument because theyāre both tired from staying up and having to be at this noisy party with their annoying parents (affectionate), and then maybe the power goes out and someone has to fix it and everyoneās starting to think that theyāre going to miss the ball dropping or whatever Americans do on new years (my last experience of an American new years was the millennium haha yes I am old) and then everything gets sorted and right at midnight theyāre like fighting to get back to each other in time FOR THE JOKE but then someone grabs Buck (maybe Maddie) and STEALS Eddieās midnight kiss from right under his nose and then they CANT kiss because its not midnight anymore and itās not going to be funny anymore but now Eddie has this itch under his skin that he canāt get rid of for the rest of the night but yeah then everyone starts trailing out to go home and Buck is helping Chris, who is half asleep and slightly buzzed off the one glass of new years champagne they allowed him to have as a 14 year old, into the car and Eddie is just there with this buzzing under his skin and in his ears and itās all because he didnāt get to kiss Buck at midnight, and its quiet outside but Eddie canāt hear a fucking thing because heās speedrunning a sexuality crisis while Buck plugs Chrisās seatbelt in and gives him a lil forehead kiss and now EVEN CHRIS got a kiss from Buck and Eddie is still standing here unkissed and that is NOT fair so when Buck straightens back up Eddie pushes him against the car and kisses him with absolutely no warning whatsoever and itās objectively a bit of a shit kiss because Buck was halfway through saying good night and Eddie had bitten his own lip while he was having his silent crisis so thereās a bit of blood in there and the whole thing is a bit of a mess but its them and its the new year and Eddieās NOT straight and heās also maybe sort of kind of completely head over heels in love with Buck and Buck loves him back and itās wonderful and then they say happy new year š„³
