In honor of Black History Month, take a look back at 17 Black families who changed the face of daytime.
I know 10 out of these 17 families. How many of these do you know and did any of them make an impact on you as a fan?
Something about TV shows that I like is the consistency, I have something to look forward to on a certain day of the week.
Miraculous Ladybug does not have that, and there were no other TV shows that I was watching.
The inconsistency of Miraculous Ladybug made me watch General Hospital again. If Days of Our Lives was on Hulu too I would be watching that also.
I started watching daytime soap operas when I was 12 or 13, and then I stopped about a decade ago.
I still remember back then Passions was at 1pm, Days of Our Lives was 2pm, and General Hospital was 3pm.
I miss the General Hospital opening from the 2000s.
So things are getting weird. Oh and they’ll use actor spouses who test negative for Covid in love scenes too.

The daytime soap Passions, noted as the weirdest and most far-out of all of them, had a regular character named Precious, an orangutan who was a fully licensed caregiver for an elderly person. Her most notable subplots are ones where she went to prison (complete with an orange jumpsuit) and had unrequited love for the hunky Luis. She had dream sequences where she ballroom danced with him while wearing glamorous jewelry.
The producers of Passions tried to put the animal actor who played Precious in the running for a daytime Emmy. I really admire the cojones of that move, but the Daytime Emmys had this statement:
Our ruling is based on the belief that the Academy must draw a line of distinction between animal characters that aren't capable of speaking parts and human actors whose personal interpretation in character portrayal creates nuance and audience engagement that uniquely qualifies those performers for consideration of television's highest honor.
