My brother in Christ, I have seen indie games that are a first person shooter where you're a mouse detective in an old cartoon, a soulslike where you play as a fucking dinosaur with a giant sword in his mouth, Zelda except also Dark Souls but you play as a fox, a furry pseudo-MMO, Kingdom Hearts except it's clockpunk, 4-player co-op roguelike fantasy hack and slash action RPGs where your character can not only use swords and magic but can transform into different monsters, a game that combines Zelda Ocarina of Time with Dark Souls and POKEMON, a game that parodies triple-a slop by "triple-a-ifying" all the classic games you grew up playing, Pokemon except you're hunting for CRYPTIDS, Paper Mario except you're a trio of bugs, a hentai kart racer, DOOM except you're a wizard, a roguelite first person shooter where the entire map is a destructible environment, a Crash Bandicoot-like game that has CO-OP where DAVID WISE does the music, a cyberpunk first-person game where you're doing parkour with a katana and both you and all your enemies go down in just 1 hit, Wario Ware combined with Superstar Saga, and an ACTUALLY-GOOD BUBSY GAME.

Oh, did I forget to mention the third-person shooter where you play as a little girl who rides motorcycles and goes postal because some jerk stole her stuffed rabbit doll? And did I mention it has fucking co-op!?

There's good shit out there, from indies, that aren't just "Earthbound but quirky and gay", if you just fucking LOOK FOR THEM.
