The whole "go tell someone you have their secret in private" idea was so a trap. Like obviously, David was trying to stir up discord, but like fundamentally it was so dangerous.

Telling someone you have a secret they're possibly willing to kill for, in total privacy? Guaranteed no witnesses? (Unless you're Rose with Nico laying on the floor igs).

Plus there isn't a safety net like there would be if you just stated the secret plainly in public: if you told the whole group you had J's secret for example, and J killed you, it would automatically be incredibly suspicious. There isn't any of that with private conversations. (Even though it was a pretty loose safety net anyway, since it didn't do Ace any good with Nico.)
