Note to new dating simulator players: Every dating simulator from Otome, Bishojo (I had to look up what a dating simulator targeted to male players is called lol), and LGBT+, will feature typical tropes and archetypes. For example, a bad boy love interest in Otome is common. Same with taboo or forbidden relationships. Same with dark romance (look at Diabolik Lovers). Interspecies romance. You get the idea. More ranting under the cut.
Same applies to the appearance of characters. Got a white haired hot guy? There's a lot of those. Got a lot of blondies? Quite a lot of those too. Ruggedly handsome and masculine? Very common as well. A male character with a tan? Not as common, but Otome has them from time to time. Seriously, look at just Love365 and get back to this post.
BEFORE you say that an otome game is a "copycat," think about the multiple tropes and archetypes. It's just like how anime will follow tropes and archetypes that will sometimes produce similar looking characters, but different in terms of lore. Just like how western media like cartoons or live action will use similar tropes and archetypes.
Yes, this is about Silent Whispers and Love and Deepspace. I've seen people say that SW is copying LADs because Alarik looks like Sylus because of his hair, which yeah, I kinda see, and hopefully, the similarities end there and it's not word-for-word a TEMU Sylus. But despite this game not being released yet, a few people are jumping to the conclusion that Sylus has been plagarized whenever they look at Alarik (again, the game is not released yet and we know very little about the three love interests).
By that logic, SW is copying LADs because they gave Valen ice powers, and Zayne has ice powers too. Or Theron is copying Valko because he is also a werewolf. IF Silent Whispers word-for-word straight up plagiarized Sylus, then I will drop Silent Whispers.
Finally, one last thing, because I know not everyone is going to read through and skip to the end: you hate Infold for what they are doing to LADs but you do not want to play Silent Whispers because you just plain do not see the appeal, that is fine, it is 100% valid. BUT do not say "this looks like generative AI." I had to see so many artists be discouraged or even ran off the internet because of comments like that, so it made me upset. I too have jumped ship from crappy company and tried to play a different game, but that never worked out.
