Sometimes the spirits that come forward aren’t the saints or gods you’d expect—but those who reveal themselves through stories, archetypes, and characters that carry both shadow and light. Here are some figures from the Nasuverse who’ve become powerful presences in my craft:

🌑 Dark Sakura (Sakura Matou, Angra Mainyu’s vessel) She represents the raw, chaotic undercurrent of desire, pain, and transformation. I work with Dark Sakura when I need to process trauma, release destructive attachments, or transmute festering emotions into something that can feed new growth. On the baneful side, she excels at hexes that entangle and corrode, slowly devouring obstacles from the inside out like the shadows that manifest around her.

🕊️ Caren Hortensia (Daughter of Kotomine, Saint’s Shadow) With her detached, thorned compassion, she represents the paradox of mercy entwined with cruelty. Caren aids me in exorcism-like cleansing and in standing firm against parasitic energies. Her healing sharpens discernment, burns away self-deception, and offers a strange kind of healing through suffering. On the baneful side, Caren specializes in binding and affliction, tightening karmic nets around those who harm others until they’re forced to confront their sins.

✝️ Grigori Rasputin (Alter Ego – the False Priest) As a spirit, he carries the duality of mystic healer and manipulative heretic. In healing rites, Rasputin's influence opens channels of vitality and resilience, restoring what has been sapped or corrupted. For baneful work, he thrives in manipulative glamour, sowing obsession, and turning dogma into a weapon against those who abuse power.

🌹 Kiara Sesshōin (Beast III/R – the Devouring Saintess) – A spirit of temptation, liberation, and overwhelming compassion. When I call on her, it is often for deep healing and release, dissolving blockages that keep me bound in guilt, shame, or emotional stagnation. Yet, as Beast III/R, Kiara is also an initiator into the shadow, showing me how destructive patterns can be transmuted into power.

🔥 Lilim Harlot (Beast VI/S – the Scarlet Bride) – She embodies desire, rage, and the burning force of freedom. Lilim Harlot's current is raw and baneful, teaching the sacredness of wrath when directed with purpose. When I work with her, she becomes a shield and a sword, a spirit who devours illusions and lends me strength when I must stand unyielding.

Each of these spirits reminds me that healing and harm are often two sides of the same blade. Whether I reach for their guidance in mending or in baneful acts, they embody the raw truth that power is never neutral.
