I would like to clarify that I do not believe Dany's crucifixations of the slavers is a moral failing (they're slavers in Slaver's Bay honey, they're bad people). I see it as a political failing. I don't think we're supposed to brush off the crucified slavers, even Dany isn't completely convinced that it was the right thing to do. She literally feels ill remembering it and shuts down her uncertainties and tells herself it was correct. She is deeply fascinating to me because she dislikes the compromises she has to make to keep peace and she still wants deliverance and fairness but she also hates the agony and carnage of war yet she is fast to order violence on instinct.
She rips herself apart because she cannot stand peace or war and that is deeply tragic.

Show Danyās burning of KL has always been seen as a Mad Queen argument but I always thought of it as entitlement and rage emanating from that entitlement. The people of Westeros were supposed to welcome her and her armies, they were supposed to open their arms and open their forts up to the rightful ruler of their kingdom, they were supposed to vouch for her not be resistant to her rightful conquest, not attack her, provide her with what was hers all along, overthrow the usurpers in her name before she even came along. They were supposed to be on her side and they werenāt. They betrayed her. So she burned them and she took what was hers, with fire and blood. It wasnāt some of unreasoned madness but I feel wrongfully reasoned clarity.

I get it when people say the "mad queen" trope is problematic, but they should complain with the autor lol I'm just analyzing what is written!
i was gonna try to save this for when i got to adwd but i am simply not reading fast enough lmao. anyways yeah you're right!!!! i think plenty of "dark dany" theorists are well aware that the specific ending of "jon murders dany" doesn't look, like, fantastic optics wise and i honestly can't think of a single dark dany person who doesn't feel that in order for that story line to not make us want to rip our hair out or beat george's ass is if basically every other named ruler (save maybe Edmure and Sweetrobin) is a woman, lollll, like no one is unaware of how it comes off!!
I mean hell, that's been a point of criticism for cersei's character even, about how tyrion and jaime are more about showing us that they aren't as evil as they are perceived or that their "evil" so to speak is actually way different than what others perceive their evil to be (ie, tyrion is not a bad person because he's disabled but he sure is for murdering shae, and jaime isn't a shit person for murdering aerys but his tendency to shut down emotionally has completely wrecked his family and he doesn't want to admit it) whereas Cersei's chapters are more "yeah she's evil and crazy and a huge bitch but there's a really good reason for that actually" which is certainly interesting and a great way of exploring her character (and he does this AMAZINGLY) but it also stands out kind of obviously against her brothers. this is essentially the same point of criticism people have had for his writing for years (as in, it's a blind spot of his, which makes sense bc he's an old man from jersey but still) which is that he's really good at exploring why something is sexist or related to patriarchal values but he's not super good at building an actual feminist character as in a character who is a proto-feminist. If anything, a kind of "oh george i'm not sure you thought through what that looks like from the outside" ending is way more in line with how that man writes than "dany is a hero who kills the others then takes her rightful place as queen of the seven kingdoms alongside her nephew-husband" ending is.

I can't believed it Krossan you nailed it, you predicted that future especially Jazz hugging Dark Danny in teenage form before the the revival of Danny Phantom in graphic novel until now the time of the AGIT, the fan of this makes a video (left picture) where make her ideas about dark danny in teenage form got been reunited with his sister in alternate timeline (after his defeat and fused into a clone teen of Danny) and the fan art of Krossan (right picture) where Dan (in teenage form) hug his sister, well about that opinion in the right picture by Kross she make that fanart in one year ago, without the notice that your fanart is gonna being unexpected in your future .
atp iām kinda fifty fifty on whether dany goes genuinely dark or whether she does similar fucked up shit (ie burning KL, sacking cities with the dothraki, & killing aegon vi) before attempting some level of redemption (in her eyes & her followers eyes) by going out in an ultimately useless attempt to destroy the others. like. i think the idea that she goes out trying to stop the tide of others (probably near the trident) and her people & maybe the riverlands are touched but the north is just kinda like āthat was functionally useless & also she did still fuck up the crownlandsā would fit georgeās idea of ālight and dark bothā while also fitting with the general anti war, anti violence stances of the book.
becauseā¦part of why i donāt think she ever goes north or plays a huge part in the long night is because i think that ādany destroys the others with her blood magic dragons that george has compared to nukesā doesnāt really fit with the story? i think itās notable that jon treats ghost like a genuine, beloved pet and not a war machine & all the violence ghost has done has been his own love of jon - my dog has barked at people when he can tell iām uncomfortable! theyāre good at picking up at our underlying emotions - and this is similar to summer as well. bran explicitly forgets to treat summer as a war machine bc heās too busy enjoying the feeling of running & hunting and doing wolf things! vs robb is implied to use grey wind to kill & itās part of why he eventually sends grey wind away - heās unsettled by the violence heās caused & made grey wind cause. i think when arya gets back to the riverlands, itās not just her motherās violence she will have to contend with, itās nymeriaās as well! vs danyā¦explicitly wants to use the dragons to conquer. so going out in a blaze of glory that does nothing to change the tide of the war, the last scion of house targaryen trying and failing to escape the clutches of a prophecy that has plagued her family for hundreds of years but at least she tries to escape unlike her familyā¦fits with where i think characters like tyrion & jaime are going where the point is even though they do genuinely evil shit, they at least attempt a breakaway even if itās not wholly successful.
i reserve the right to wildly change my mind on this as i keep reading tho!!! itās just where iām feeling in asos. she is very similar to tyrion in that she is very much of her house & embodies her houseās weaknesses & sin while also having its strengths. and given that george is very fond of tyrion and has mentioned being fond of danyā¦i know a lot of us bitch about how it feels like tyrion wonāt get a proper ācomeuppanceā for like, the sheer amount of sexual abuse he partakes in bc george doesnāt have as great of an idea of consent as the average person under 50 does rn or even like, the average woman/gay has lol, and iām wondering if heāll do some similar āan attempt at an eleventh hour redemptionā thing with her.
