DARK season 2 analysis post (will be updated frequently cause)

2)  Sic Mundus - group of time travelers lead by Adam (Jonas from unknown time) who’s plan is to create a new world without God and time.

Martha from another world appears at the end and saves Jonas from apocalypse. Did the Sic Mundus knew about her and this happening? Was this also part of their prophecy? Or did Martha X and her world decide that this is the right time to intervene and help stop the apocalypse cause it’s happening might be affecting them and possibly other worlds?

I could be wrong, but interpreting Adam’s character as an Übermensch, as described by Nietzsche, does make a suspicious amount of sense and could give some insight into how Jonas became him (and therefore what season 3 could be about). An Übermensch is someone who may have every reason to succumb to nihilism and despair, but doesn’t. Instead, they embraces reality as it is, wants to live their own life (as if they had to live it all over again -I doubt Nietzsche meant that that literally, lol), obstacles and suffering and all (which, according to Nietzsche, does make you stronger), and they play with the rules of reality in a creative way. They creates a new set of value for themselves (which makes a precise description of an Übermensch difficult, by definition they are not supposed to fit someone else’s definition), and rise above notion such as good and evil (or at least redefine them). 

Jonas’s entire story arc is extremely nietzschean, in a way. A first, he embodies some ways of thinking that Nietzsche criticizes in is works: he is at war with reality (the reality of how things are in Winden, with the whole time travel mess and the determinism that goes with it), at war against his own existence even. Adam, however, seems to be the contrary. My theory is that at some point, he will realize that by travelling to other worlds, he can also heavily influence them. I think at first, he will try to “create” a world where everything is “normal”, where he doesn’t exist (the world Claudia was talking about?), and seeing the result, realize that he actually does want to live, and that it would be too bad to have such a power and not try to create a world where he (or at least an alternative version of him) can be with Martha. In this context, his world would then merely be the condition of his existence, a necessary sacrifice (also a pretty nietzschean idea, if you ask me), which is why he doesn’t consider murdering this Martha and blowing up the nuclear plant to be a big deal. Because if “Adam” doesn’t exist, his ideal world would not, either. 

I think that this is why Claudia would have started to fight him, because she would be horrified by the idea of him willingly fucking up more worlds for his egoistic goals. It would also explain why alternative-Martha looked at Jonas with this weird expression when she came to save him. Maybe she knows. Or maybe Claudia just does the same kind of meddling with other worlds, but for her own family. Maybe she and Jonas/Adam never fought at all and only pretends to at times to manipulate others/themselves...

According to some theories, Jonas may also be his own ancestor by being Tronte or Agnès’s father, which would mean that without him, Martha herself wouldn’t exist, which could possibly also be a factor for his change of heart. Maybe in an other dimension, Martha is the one wishing she doesn’t exist, because Adam’s love for her would have badly fucked up her world.

I don’t know, maybe this is all bullshit and season 3 will prove me completely wrong. But it makes sense in my head, and it would be nice if my fascination for Nietzsche would be useful for something, for a change. *shrugs*
