Main points are that Dan's a Czarnian, his family saw the scorpions coming and pulled a Superman, shooting their baby off planet to be raised elsewhere (and his ship may or may not have actually been hit by Clark's a la Megamind, it's so funny to me to picture both families having the same idea at the same time hehe)

Baby Dan wound up landing on Oa, where he was taken in and trained as a Green Lantern. He grew up wishing he could learn more about where he came from n wanting to meet more of his kind, though he was convinced he was an endling when someone informed him of Lobo's high school science project

Buuuuut in the effort of being a GL hero n all that, Dan and Lobo finally cross paths n while one's excited he's not alone, the other's not so happy hehe I'd like to think they have a sort of Tom and Jerry "friendship" where Dan kinda provokes Lobo n Lobo attacks him but Dan's too quick/strong from the ring, so he's usually able to get away just fine
