Synopsis: Sunny (picture) is the best "clipper" in the Badlands. Devoted to the ruthless baron Quinn since childhood, his loyalty is shaken by his feelings for Veil. During a mission, he stumbles upon M.K., a teenager with extraordinary abilities who carries a pendant that seems to arouse the interest of many. While the fragile peace established between the seven barons is endangered, Sunny, with M.K.’s help, is determined to take Veil, pregnant with their child, out of the Badlands.
Notes: Yes, an American show. But, bear with me: it’s heavily influenced by traditional Chinese wuxia, with amazing fight choreography, while still being mixed up with a victorian Mad Max vibe. It’s unique, and even more relevant now than it was 10 years ago, when it comes to the treatment of women, dictatorship, demagogy, bigotry, rebellion… Also the related article on Whumpapedia is an insult to all the whump this series contains.
