If there was something she had to claim as being the worst thing to feel, it was a breakup on good terms. At least on bad terms there's anger. Hatred. Something that drives you. A reminder to never let someone in that would do that again. But ending on good terms leaves room for nothing but sadness. A schedule changing to fit one person instead of two.

Groaning, she turns onto her side, shutting her eyes. Sleep hadn't been coming easy for the past 3 weeks, and it wasn't like her constant internal monologue of thoughts was helping either.

Bzzzzzt. Bzzzzzt. Bzzzzzt.

Who the hell was calling at this hour? She sits up and lifts her phone, and her heart drops to her stomach.

Fuyuhiko is calling...

Gulping, she swipes the answer button and holds the phone up to her ear.

"Hello?"

There's some noise in the background - people talking, maybe music too - when his voice comes through, "Y/n...?"

His voice is rough with emotion, like he's been crying, but also something else.

"Fuyuhiko, is everything okay? Why... why are you calling me at nearly midnight?"

There's quiet again before he speaks, "Baby, I'm sorry..." He slurs, "I'm s' sorry, baby... I miss you..."

Y/n swallows, covering her mouth as tears well in her eyes. "Fuyuhiko..."

There's some movement on the other end and a quiet, "Give it back!" on Fuyuhiko's end before she heads Hajime's voice come through, "Hey, Y/n, sorry for him calling, he's pretty drunk right now."

"I... I figured... make sure he get home safe?"

"Of course. Night, Y/n."

"Goodnight, Hajime." The call ends, and her hand slowly drops. If she was struggling to sleep then, now it was impossible.

A few hours later, she's staring up at the ceiling when she hears a knock at her door. Her heart pounds as she gets out of bed, walking to her door and looking through the peephole. There, in a hoodie and sweats, pacing while sipping from a water bottle he keeps crushing in his hands, is Fuyuhiko.

"Fuyuhiko? It's nearly 4 in the morning, why are you here?" She asks after opening the door, crossing her arms.

"Y/n, hey. I, um..." He trails off for a moment, suddenly looking anxious.

"Are you still-"

"No." He answers before she finishes, "No, I sobred up an hour ago. Just..." He looks up at her, "I didn't want you thinking i said all that for no reason, or that im just trying to hurt you. I swear, Y/n, I meant every word and I still do. I don't..."

Y/n reaches over without thinking, stopping before her hand can brush his.

"I don't wanna stay apart, baby." He admits with a gulp. "Please, I- I can't keep waking up with regret knowing I pushed away the greatest chance I ever took. I made sure I was sober so you'd have a better chance of believing me and considering..."

"Considering what..?" Her breath is caught in her throat.

"Can we... start over...?"
