A butterfly from North and South America. The butterfly feeds predominantly on nectar from flowers and dead foliage. The level of cardenolides obtained via the larval diet may contribute to it being unpalatable to avian predators.

A NPC created by Apocrita (a.k.a Mushichu), Danaus may seem like another part of the Entomancers expansive roleplay, which he most definitely is, but make no mistake, this butterfly is a pain to fight if you are unprepared.

Boasting a wide array of status spells and abilities, buffs and debuffs, as well as utility magic, Danaus was made to be the ideal supporfor to players as the need arises... or at least that can be the case if one does not take notice of his frail defenses and low hp pool.

Not as migratory as they are on the mainland, it isn't clear whether monarch butterflies in Hawai'i are travelling between the islands. Getting the answer to this is the goal of the Hawaiian Monarch Research Project (first link below).

Monarch Butterflies arrived in Hawai'i in the mid-1800s, around the same time as they were first reported in New Zealand and several other Pacific islands. Also like in New Zealand, they either flew to the islands or were blown there mid-migration across the North American continent.

White Morph Monarch Butterflies exist in all populations of Monarch Butterfly around the world, but in Hawai'i, specifically on the island of Oahu, they occur at much higher rates.
