I've had the lyric "I play discordant days on repeat, until they look like harmony/ until the days run out on me" from Damocles in my head lately and I've been thinking of how it ties to the themes from the Backrooms film.
I'm referring specifically to the idea that Clark would play his memory over and over again in his mind or act it out with Mary and got stuck in a cycle until he felt like he was in the right. "until they look like harmony"
And this cycle would eventually lead to his downfall "until the days run out on me"
or something idk. just thoughts.
The lyrics are so good
song moodboards: damocles by sleep token
and nobody told me i'd be begging for relief / when what is silent to you feels like it's screaming to me / well nobody told me i'd get tired of myself / when it all looks like heaven but it feels like hell

And nobody told me I’d be begging for relief
When what is silent to you feels like it’s screaming to me
Well, nobody told me I’d get tired of myself
When it all looks like heaven but it feels like hell
Sleep token - Damocles
Im so sad damocles is my least fav song from EIA bc the cover art is so good the reference to the sword of damocles is so cool and the topic on the surface is relatable as someone w suspected NPD and then the song is like. idk it just doesnt hit me right I tried liking it I tried so hard I genuinely cant
THERE ARE PARTS I LIKE but in general it doesnt stick out, some lyrics are too on the nose and unrelatable and the melody n chord progression hits me weird.
not to like. criticise a song of which the entire point was "ouhhh Im not allowed to make mistakes anymore" but I feel like caramell drove the point home way better even if they tackled slightly different topics
