Happy Sunday! Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Down here in the lovely southwest, been raining since 2am last night, and supposed to be just drizzly and cold through Tuesday. I know, can't complain too much since the rest of the country is going through some serious cold snaps. 🥶
Been busy doing some odds and ends, so haven't been watching much TV or youtube, but I'm gonna get caught up on the Dakar Rally (this year it was held Jan 5-19). I'm a HUGE Dakar fan, especially the dirt bike class. If you are not aware of that race, it's almost 5,000 miles of the harshest terrain you can tackle, and you gotta get it done in two weeks! 😲

The 1995 XTZ850RG was built for the avid adventurer. An ancestor of the currently available XTZ12 Super Ténéré adventure touring motorcycle, the 1995 XTZ850RG featured an 849cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke, double-overhead-cam, five-valve, twin-cylinder engine that was developed from the engine in the TDM850 sportbike. In order to supply privateer racers and also satisfy homologation rules, the XTZ850R was actually a production model in Yamaha’s European model lineup, and it was more than capable of entering the famous Dakar Rally in completely stock form. However, the bike was even further refined by Yamaha’s factory rally team, and the great Stéphane Peterhansel won four Dakar Rallies aboard the machine.
