Dinah wrapped her arms around her foster daughter in a tight embrace. Such a strong young girl for enduring everything she had but the past was the past, she had somewhere she belonged to now. “Everyone needs a hug once in a while. We are going to fix everything, okay?”

Mia, the successor to Roy and how different she was to him yet how alike in wanting to impress Oliver, to make him proud even when she was so exhausted and in pain.

“You’re okay. You will be okay-” Dinah soothed tucking the small girl under her chin.

“We both know what grumpybottoms is like. Come on, let’s make you a hot drink and calm that frustration Speedy”

Oh, Thea could write books on being a sidekick to the arrow and being underutilized smiling a sympathetic smile to her ‘niece’s’ frustration. It had been over ten years since Thea gave up the Speedy mantle and Mia was doing so much better at handling Oliver than she ever did.

“Come on, you can vent to auntie Thea and if that doesn’t work we get you to throw some punches on the bag”

“Erm, Dr. Stevens?” After three knocks, Rory pushed the door to Beth’s office open, poking his head in. “Sorry to bother you during your break, but I’ve a quick status update. Mr. Lang’s condition should be stable for the night. After we siphoned the excess quantum energy out of him, it left him solid enough for me to stitch him up.”

The smile he managed was small, a little nervous. Though Beth was hardly the definition of the worst mentor-- it was hard not to think her one of the best, given he was doing his residency with the Avengers as patients-- that didn’t make it any less nerve-wracking to be in her presence. He was a rookie doctor in just about every way, and this was someone who very much knew what she was doing. Rory didn’t feel lesser in her presence, but... sometimes, certainly, being around her made him want to be more.

“I suppose one can say I’m a business man. Connections with other philanthropists, business partners, stock market holders, research facilities, museums, people on top of the world as some would say. I intentionally seek them most of the time in order to establish connections. A tiresome and boring routine, but I do it for the good name of my family and those who support us.”

“My preference is to cultivate relationships based on respect, love, and loyalty, which, to me, means really close friends and family. Both of which are small in my circles. Family consisting of me and my brother alone, friends of maybe a handful of people, maybe ten at total if I’m being generous -- it’s not wise to keep a lot of people close when one is like me.”

“It’s not like I’ll disregard anyone for their social status as well, I see each and every person as an open opportunity to a new experience, and so everyone is full of potential in my eyes. It’s... complicate I guess? Usually others walk away because of my looks, but truth be told, if I sit on a park bench and an old lady sit at my side and start to talk to me, chances are I’ll hear all she has to say until she decides to go away, and, in some cases, I’ll even offer to buy something for us to eat if the stories are good.”
