The engine is the hemispherical head V8 designed by Edward Turner and first used in the Daimler SP250 sports car. Introduced as the Daimler Two and a Half litre V8 in 1962, and powered by Daimler's 2.5-litre V8 engine and drive-train, a Daimler fluted grille and rear number plate surround, distinctive wheel trims, badges, and interior details including a split-bench front seat from the Jaguar Mark 1 and a black enamel steering wheel. Most cars were fitted with the optional power-assisted steering, Automatic transmission was standard, with manual both with and without overdrive an option. The car was updated as a V8-250 in October 1967 with minor facelifts the wide (armco style) bumpers were replaced by new "slimline" bumpers and over-riders, negative earth electrics, an alternator instead of the earlier dynamo and twin air cleaners. Other new features included padding over the instrument panel, padded door cappings and ventilated leather upholstery, reclinable split-bench front seats and a heated rear window Diolch am 96,205,589 o olygfeydd anhygoel, mae pob un yn cael ei werthfawrogi'n fawr. Hmmm while I agree with good portions of this, I’m not sure “mercedes” wants to drop george little by little out in the cold.
I think the point here is: who is the “mercedes” talked about here?
@georgegraphys talked about a scission going on (I would say between the boards and the team) , so if with “mercedes” we mean toto wolff and the f1 team, then yes. It’s not like toto would drop george like a stone, but he definitely would back and push the most convenient narrative and driver for himself and the team’s image.
But is kimi the future of toto’s mercedes? A mercedes whose PUs are unreliable at most, whose strat team is mediocre at best, whose PR management is maybe targeting george, but has always been mediocre even when lewis was still there?
Mediocre is the definition of toto’s mercedes.
They are not the shiny little thing niki lauda and ross brawn propelled forward. That one is long gone now, and sorry for language but you can polish a turd all you want, it will still remain a turd.
So toto is definitely trying to sell off his own new version of this “mercedes”, a young! Fresh! One, but is it really working? I’ve never seen their socmed more in shambles, I’ve never seen george get this much backing even from people you’d never expect, from opposite teams.
Now, the other “mercedes” we are not seeing is the board’s version, and these guys are definitely not toto wolff. Some of them even don’t like toto or his ways of working, and this is also to be taken into consideration.
This other mercedes also really likes george, uses him for sponsor days (not kimi), is in regular contact with george and backs him through the darkest times.
This other mercedes doesn’t really want george to leave, but I’d bet they wouldn’t really care if toto left.
So to me? Whst we are seeing, even towards george, is not the beginning of a long drop, but punishment? Of some kind, because george maybe is not really disliked by some within that team, while some others who might be now in a more vulnerable position than him, do.
In two cents? I don’t expect george to leave or get dropped by “mercedes” anytime soon.
Bro I wish he left!😭😭😭
But other inviduals? Are not there for the long run. Or might last way less than george.
This gorgeous machine is the Jaguar Daimler SP252, a prototype made by Sir William Lyons of a restyled Daimler SP250.
Jaguar were disappointed with low sales figures for the SP250 in the US, which was mainly because the price was not competitive - more than twice the price of a Triumph TR6 and for just a smidge more you could buy a Mustang.
Sir William made this prototype while Jaguar were still working out what to do with with the Daimler brand. It never reached production but damn that’s a pretty little roadster.
