Either way as I am actively reminded of him; one more thing I hardly see talked abt in regards to Gale is how important Mystras' forgiveness actually is.
Cuz it's not just about an ex ceasing their hatred or smth. Mystra is his goddess. Mystra will eventually be the one to judge his soul, cuz again, the afterlife is a real and proven concept, and considering that the entire party is tiptoeing death the entire time (him in particular) and Gale does not appear to be the person who'd be content with toiling away or becoming a part of the City of Death's wall until his entire being fades away into oblivion, agonisingly slow might I add, its in his best interest not to be judged faithless or false. Aka acquiring her forgiveness.
His entire life and afterlife depend on Mystra. He wouldn't even be able to escape her in death. His only viable options are forgiveness from a goddess he actively spited or ascension since he wouldn't need her forgiveness anymore. Hence why "what Mystra considers forgiveness" is a tempting offer, even under normal circumstance. Rock and hard place and all that.
