So, on a whim I decided to give Divinity: Original Sin a try this weekend. I figured I’d need something to tide me over until I inevitably cave and fall into Dragon Age later this year, and I was curious how Larian’s earlier work held up.
Eugh
I really wanted to like it, and the environments and world and some of the early game fetch quests are charming, but goddamn, the combat is a menace. I’m sorry, no early game encounter should have like a billion dudes that can heal AND revive? wtf.
I was starting to get despondent about the challenge factor; probably owing in part to my own unfamiliarity with which builds and party combinations are appropriate. I decided after throwing myself at the same skeleton squad too many times that I’d switch to easy mode and fight something else.
Something else, 20 feet from the other fight I was failing, was a bunch of fire elementals and a fire sorcerer that filled the entire region as far as I could pan my camera, with fire rain
I am 30 or 40 years old and I do not need this
