Iām not gonna lie- gay was a really common (and now triggering) insult for me when I was younger, but since itās a legitimate identifier, Iām trying to desensitize myself, rather than stop people from using it about me. Maybe not everyone can do that, but thereās something got be said about the fact that almost all identifiers on this community (q, gay, dyke, etc.) were or are still slurs in some parts of this country that we are reclaiming.

(If anyone here does need gay tagged, or anything else, please tell me!)Ā Theyāre definitely used as slurs a lot, but since certain ones are more common than others Iāll preemptively try and account for those triggers.Iām very sorry about how that word has affected you, I know how awful that stuff is and I hope youāre doing okay ā„. Some people cannot desensitise themselves or simply are not ready to, and they do need to be taken into account too when I consider how I word myself on my blog.
