after x amount of years I finally got to do my fan apprentice animation
Hello Tumblr ~
I decided to give my cat oc, Thora, a new design becaus eguess what, I was unstisfied with the last one, woops.
Here we can see I made extra sure I liked this design because after the initial sketch I did 2 pages of studies! I'm quite pleased eith how she fits in with the rest of the group (^_^)
My design process was basicaly "just go", so I have to really lucky and on a good day, which wa sthe case, because I love the first drawing! The markings were easy after that! I started with the warm grey as a base because that would match both Aella and Mina (bird and dog respectively) only Aspen (horse) is a bit at odds here.
A little lore for these charcters, they don't really have one! They are just supposed to be pretty and let me express myself (cheesy, yes) but there is a lil something interesting! They are shapeshifters! That is, the second study is virtually impossible to hapen in cannon lol. There is no "main form" they are all the main form. They all have the more or less same core personality, but of course, they are all different! Each presents an main emotion, Thora is anger, Aspen is sadness, Mina is happiness and Aella is fear. They shift mostly acording to that, though they can shift willingly, is just hard to.
Any form can shift into any other. When shifting into Mina, the figure will "bubble out" converting into her. Into Aspen, the figure melts into a blob and reforms as Aspen. Aella has the form "implode", and Thora explodes with lightning. Uhhh, see following gif for clarity.
They can also be ocs for fabdoms, mostly Aspen is mlp, and Thora is warrior cats, Aella and Mina are generally just fursonas.
In addition, I've FINALLY started working on Thora's cycle animation ^_^ here's a Work in progress of it!
It's so weird how much I love and hate animating.
ORGANIZED SEMINAR ACTIVITY - Gamified Cycles: "Insights in Game Animation Loops"
Our very first onsite face-to-face hosted seminar was entitled “Gamified Cycles: Insights in Game Animation Loops”, hosted during December 13, 2025 on Room 505 in Gordon College (formerly set in Room 508 before someone else took our room despise our early reservation), Olongapo City. Our resource speaker was Mr. Mark Angelo Quindara, a 2D pixel artist and animator at Mega Cat Studios. Our registration was done on Google Forms, and we in the team advertised our seminar with flyers in Gordon College. Our speaker discussed about game animation loops, with topics about the following and eventually his process on how he creates his animated cycles in his works:
Differentiating Game animation to film animation
Discussing the Types of video game animation
Understanding cycle animations
How to animate cycle animations
Animation that loops in cycles is extensively utilized in media, particularly for actions like walking, running, and idle movements, thus proving versatile for video games. Our speaker, Mr. Quindara, differentiated film animation from game animation as follows: Film animation is passive, fixed, focusing on cinematic storytelling, whereas game animation is interactive and dependent on player actions, with cyclical structures for various movements such as walking and attacking. He emphasized that cycle animations apply not only to characters but also to game objects, environments, and UI elements. The more frames an animation contains, the smoother it appears, contrasting with the 8-bit era's limited 2-3 frame animations that effectively enhanced visual effects.

The discussion with cycle animations combined with pixel art makes me interested on applying what I've learned into my practical use in making my personal art or even work I can put in my portfolio! Pixel art is something I'm keen on doing, but hesitant to try out because of some inner thoughts that tell me that it might look bad. But seeing our speaker's artistic works was one of the things that motivate to push me to getting out of my comfort zone, especially with my art as of late. Hopefully I've had some pixel art and animation to show when I get the time to try out.
