HEY YO DUDES/LADIES/ EVERYTHING IN BETWEEN I WANNA TALK ABOUT SOMETHING REALLY QUICK some of you may have heard me talk about this before but if not, here's the deal: I am visually impaired DUN DUN DUN what this means is that in the eyes of the law and health services, I am registered as legally blind. I can't drive a car, I can't see more than 4 feet infront of me and crowds are just not nice when you're short and blind! Here in the UK there is a charity called RNIB (Royal National Institute for the Blind) who aim to support VI/blind people and also prevent the increase of sight loss through funding research etc etc. They are currently doing a campaign to promote the new, easier way of registering your sight loss called the #CVIselfie so here is mine. AND NOW FOR A LITTLE BACK STORY OOOO I was first diagnosed as blind pretty much when i was born,i was born with a cataract in both eyes and i had my first surgery at 4 weeks old which enabled me to have the vision i do today ( about 15% of full vision) but i still need my glasses to read and basically function! Now at 18 and just starting university, my level of sight has become more and more highlighted to me through various meetings with my unis support team and the prospects of me getting a part time job while in uni and then into full time employment (hopefully). It's high time we erase the stigma attached to sight loss because I can garauntee you that without my sight loss i would not be as driven to succeed nor would i have achieved a fraction of what i have done in my short 18 years and RNIB have been there every step of way! I encourage you all to share your #CVIselfie s on instagram and tag RNIB uk to show your support!! In the mean time, Yours bespectacled R
