Closest ID I could get you is a Smith & Wesson Model 10 (many calibers, likely chambered here in .22LR). It's a little wonky, though. Here, let me get you a reverse image searched higher quality picture:
To touch on the "are they holding it right?" question, you can clearly see that they are holding it with both hands; their right hand is obscured by their left, and may actually be positioned "correctly" to fire it. The left hand grip is a bit weird, and should just be under or in front of the right hand instead of wrapped around the gun.
Regardless, the gun is a bit weird, and I can't fully ID it or even be confident in it not being a prop. The screw above the grip looks unnatural for firearms, as does the cylinder release. It may just be a perspective issue, but it looks like the top chamber of the cylinder does not even meet with the center of the barrel properly, either. It also looks like the cylinder crane actually blocks the top chamber as well.
