Speak softly.

Use indirect phrasing

Avoid a strong "no". Say "chotto" (a bit) to soften refusals

Bow lightly when greeting or thanking somebody

Nod when listening to show engagement

Dont touch people casually, remember personal space

Use polite language when addressing elders/strangers

Avoid too much hand gestures

Cover mouth when laughing

Avoid long eye contact

Stand on the left side of escalators

Slurping noodles is actually accepted and appreciated sometimes

Dont pour your own drink, but pour for others in group settings

Accept food humbly. Dont refuse!
