The Final Chapter of Chainsaw Man and How it Makes me Feel...
Dude. Turn on the TV. Doesn't matter what channel.
They are frying the FUCK out of the ending on Reddit...
I personally liked the ending, even though I can recognize how it may be unsatisfying to some, and I'm going to try and articulate why, but not well.
What I felt this ending to be, was a true moment of repose. It's kind of like a weight has been lifted from my chest.
Seeing Denji and Power together makes me very emotional too..
The only thing I wish that we got to see was more of this universe, I liked seeing Nayuta a lot...
I still don't know how to feel about Asa, I think Fujimoto was getting at a relationship better left alone than initiated upon, but I like the semi-tragic realistic mood it presents.
Comparing this work to the ending of Fire Punch, there's this similar idea of "soulmates" or two people joined together after horrible event after horrible event that I sort of see mirrored here...
It's like an opportunity to "reset" the fucked you that you've become and start completely anew and I think that's why I like the ending a lot.
Not to divulge too much of my life away, but I am on the precipice of making a somewhat major life decision. My modus operandi for such a large choice is kind of simple: I want to stay close to my friends, and family no matter what.
And that's what CSM (and Fire Punch's) endings invoke in me, this feeling of reset-age, of going back home, of cherishing and rekindling the connections you have.
I don't really have too much else to say, other than that I'm glad to see these two together again.
