hey! could you help me with the difference between computer science and computer engineering?
hi! my background is experimental physics, so you might be better off asking someone who is actually from one of those disciplines. but my understanding is that computer science focuses on software (eg data structures, coming up with algorithms) while computer engineering is a marriage of cs and electrical engineering, which involves more work on the electronics/hardware side of things. because of this, you'd need to learn a lot more physics for a computer engineering degree.
Tbh I also know nothing about the Barbie movies, beside what I've picked up from the memes scattered around Tumblr but – yeah exactly! They don't mind being their Barbie's Kens: "You incredible creature!" Gansey marvels at Ronan. "You marvelous creature!" he gasps at Adam. And Declan fights the reality of dreams with basically all his being, but then he's happy to be in the shadows behind Jordan's glittering artist self, a wife that looked better behind the wheel of their car than he did (Ronan's words, to be fair, but im sure Declan would agree and would PREEN.) I feel like they're all too willing to dismiss their own little quirks (even if they cannot quite hide them completely -- Gansey's camaro, Declan's well tooled shoes) because they don't feel like they should/can lean into them. In the books we see respectively Ronan and Jordan pointing out the special things about them, and they're immediately caught, feeling seen.
In a dreamer!declan declansey scenario I would love to have them pointing out each others' "bland non magical guy-ness" during the trc canon where they're just two normal guys being dudes. And then trc and tdt happen - tldr about my dreamer!declan ideas, his dreaming abilities got awakened after bryde started fucking with the leylines - and they just meet up like ah. Guess we hang out with the clowns too hard and now we're part of the circus for real. Two magical guys being compLETELY out of their depth. We're kens, we weren't written to be barbies, how do we deal with this shit.
Anyway, congratulations on the novel writing! Original writing is hard. I unfortunately know the "no writing blackout" mood very well, I've been struggling with it for the whole past year while I grappled with my life basically falling apart in more ways than one (when it rains it pours etc etc). The writing seems to be back with a vengeance though, since the vampire remix hit the 6k words mark yesterday! Wohoo! I'm now indulging in highly illegal "editing before finishing the draft" behaviour but i think im still safe, i'm having a lot of fun.
Re: rereading - i finally received my hard copies of the books and the temptation to re-read everything is very strong.... but i already read it once this year (in order to read greywaren) and there's a pile of tbr on my desk so maybe not yet. so tempting though... (as if im not constantly looking up things in them for the fic)(this is my secret, im always re-reading them)

Definitely don't mind receiving your asks. I'm so excited to hear that your writing is back with a vengeance! Sending you hugs over life falling apart in sudden downpours - I can actually relate. There's a lot going on right now that's making having time or energy in the same place really hard. But this book won't write itself. So excited to hear about your vampire remix and also your dreamer!Declan thoughts. I won't give too much away about my version, but Declan has always been a dreamer, and had no idea until the story opens on a scenario he never saw himself in, for all his catastrophe planning.
I am also always rereading TRC/TDT. When Call Down the Hawk came out, I immediately went back and reread the TRC books and started sticking pieces of paper in sections that were Declan and Gansey and things that I wanted to write about in various stories. There's a straight up Declansey (non dreamer) thing I started that I really want to continue. Always so much writing that I want to do. I'm almost done with the first half of my book, but I've been poking at my wips gently to make sure they're still alive. Maybe sometime soon, I'll take some days off to go hide somewhere and write.

Dee looks back at Patton and replies, “No, did you put in one of your pockets?”
“No! I’ve checked my pockets and it isn’t there!” Patton replied, the slightest bit of exasperation edging into his voice
“Is it around your neck?” Dee called back, trying not to take his eye off of the road.
Patton brings his hand up to his chest, where the necklace would rest on his chest as a reflex, but only grasps air.
“No, I know I hadn’t put it on yet when I realized it wasn’t in my pockets!”
Logan comes over and places his hand on Patton’s, trying to calm Patton from getting more upset.
“Hey Patton, it’s alright, me can always use Locate Object, like the whispers are saying. And if it fell off, we can just go and get it, it’s alright.”
Patton nods, a single tear dripping down his face as he clutches Logan’s hand.
Thomas looks torn between looking at Dee and Patton as they are slowly raising their voices at the other, breathing a sigh of relief when Logan is able to calm Patton.
He looks up at Dee, who is looking back at all of them until he sees Thomas looking and makes eye contact with him. Thomas wilts under the intense eye contact and looks away for a moment before looking back at Dee with a curious expression.
This seems to startle Dee and Dee turns around rapidly and continues driving.
Thomas places his hand on his chest because that was intense for some strange reason.
It’s then that he feels… something under his clothes around his chest area.
A lump that wasn’t there before.
Thomas, confused, trails his fingers under his shirt and finds a cord of leather.
He mouths What? as he gently pulls the cord to find it’s wrapped around his neck.
Thomas brings the cord up and off of his neck and he freezes as he sees the end of the cord hung with a distinctly heart-shaped pebble.
“What the…?”
Logan and Patton turn to him and Patton himself freezes the moment he sees Thomas with the necklace dangling from his fingers and looking at it like it just told him that the sky wasn’t blue.
“Thomas… what?”
It’s then that Dee turns around and sees the necklace in Thomas’s hand and Logan and Patton staring at him.
Dee then pulls back hard on the reins, causing the wagon to come to a complete stop.
