Kelryptid would find Kelriral fascinating, and ask him so many questions he's wanted to know about arirals, that only someone who has been both human and ariral could answer. He'd love to exchange stories over how their transformations went. Kelryptid shares a love of seafood with Kelriral, so I feel like they could have an awesome sushi night. Maybe bring some sake to go with.
Also I feel like they'd geek out about arirals together pretty hardcore, maybe compare notes about the various alien species they've run into over the course of their stays at their respective parallel universe versions of Dunkeltaler. Ohh this could be so fun!!

Happy monday!! I'd wanted to post about Kelryptid every monday of 2026 as my year's resolution, with the hopes to do more with CotV!
On account of the divorce (which is real btw) I have been quite low energy recently, and haven't been able to make it to every monday post. Recovery will be a long journey. Kelryptid is still very important to me and a comfort to write, draw, and talk about. Thank you for staying with me as I slowly work towards writing Kelryptid for more reasons than just "I need to get these feelings out into the world before I go away forever"
I'm not gone though and I plan to stick around now!!! But I've ran out of energy. I have passion for this story still, just not the energy for a bit. I'll continue to post and talk about him though, since it brings me joy.
Now, my reason for writing Kelyrptid is "I'm finally free and can express everything that I want to about him" which also means I can take the time I need with him instead of rushing his story. Rest is crucial at this stage, and I will be taking it for the forseeable future.
It takes me a long, long time to move from fandom to fandom. I can see myself staying here long after others have moved on. I have a story to finish, after all ♥

OH YEAH and uhhh Kelryptid would think its a neat stuffed animal and be completely clueless about the implications btw. He would treat it kindly though and it would live next to his collection of plushies which includes the dolls that the arirals made of him. Both of them!!
What would a crptid kel that overindulged in their desire look like at this point in the fic?
This is a delightful question! I imagine this question comes from what I have set up back in my earlier days of developing cryptid Kel, which is very visible in chapters 1-4 when I wasn't as certain with the direction I wanted to take him and Furfur.
Back then, I wanted to have the cannibalism go more the pop-culture route of becoming an endless hunger. However, that isn't the case now, and I haven't been able to update the fic yet to reflect that. THAT BEING SAID. Let's get into this, because I really really really love talking about this kinda stuff.
So, first off, lemme drop you a rewrite of the initial cannibalism scene that I'll be using in the rewrite of CotV. This is something I actually meant to convey at the very beginning, but never did for whatever reason!

Now, re-contextualized, his cannibalism wasn't just curiosity. It was something more.
If Kelryptid overindulges in his desires... By this point in the fic, post-chapter 9, it will look very interesting. Kelryptid choosing to overindulge will look like him thawing everything left he has in his freezer, and trying to share it with the arirals. Going too far. Hunting down any pulse and trying to feel it under his teeth, seeking closeness and connection desperately to the point of needing to taste it like blood on his tongue.
I'm not sure what would happen if he bit an ariral. He's vaccinated, but I feel the alien incompatibility is just far too great, and while his immune system might not immediately react to it as an allergen, I don't think he'd be able to digest anything well. Even a few drops of ariral blood would probably make him very sick.
I do have a plan for his desires to slowly become impossible to ignore, but the first step for that is to get rid of his stash. Second step is. Well. Make him get stupid and territorial as deer tend to after they shed their velvet. Their antlers aren't just for show, they're for fighting, and so is Kelryptid's. With noone to fight, I feel like he'd start pacing around wildly in his cage (dunkeltaler) and this is where things get interesting. The rest I won't say, since I don't want to spoil my fic, even though we're in a large hiatus right now due to the (DIVORCE) but you know!! I still love Kelryptid dearly and want to continue his story once I am in a better place.
That said, the ORIGINAL plan was for him to have the possibility of becoming one of the black fog beasts by going too far. Now, it's different. That being said, here's a funfact about my AU: the black fog beasts, the prying eyes, those are Furfur's underlings, and Kelryptid was about to turn into one in CotV! He almost did, but managed to save himself at the last second.
I imagine the black fog beasts are strange creatures underneath that maw, all with some pair of antlers in the shadows to be similar to Furfur. They're one of his legions that he commands in this fic! Now you know!

Ive written to book 10 of the prequel, which covers the series of events up until day 24. Now inbetween playing deltarune and spending time with friends, I got to figure out where to take the story next. I should have some time later this monday to focus on my AU and see what I want to do with it. First thing’s first is likely going to be to continue my reread/edit of cotv
