I've always been curious about it, but how did you come up with the characters' names?
Like "Runi", "Nero", "Usma", "Kasko", they're very creative and in one of the pages Runi reffered to Nero as "The buck who traded brains for tall legs", and he answered with "Well, the name says it". Are there meanings to all of their names?
Some are pretty straightforward like "Loudkill" and "Riptail", but in case of the others, do you use a real-life language as inspirations or do you just think of a made-up word that fits the character best?
Big fan of one or two syllabe names. There's no meaning to them! What Nero meant by that is that Riptail's name implies his tail has been ripped, so he checks. He's defending himself.
Even if some names had meanings in our language, they don't in GS world. The name Antaras is close to Scorpius' brightest star, Antares, (and there's some juicy & fitting star lore about it that will never be implied in GS) but it's not something the deer would ever think. No stars like Antares in their sky. They don't think of names as anything more than ways to call each other.
