hoping for some crowdsourcing find that if! i believe it was a fantasy/dark fantasy story where the MC is an ex-military/captain of a nearby kingdom (i forget exactly why they retired, but they live in an isolated cabin) and is basically forced back into an action role with the new guard there was some sort of sickness/corruption around a magical artifact i believe...? and the MC would get affected by it in the later chapters / see it around the city but you basically just play as a disgruntled guy getting pulled from retirement to save the world again kinda vibe i have no idea if this is enough info but that's all i remember :,) appreciate everyone's help in advance!!
