Greetings, all. I am a humble fanfiction author who does the collection Crouching Jonkler Hidden Zonkler on AO3, which is centered around the ship between Jabber Wonger and Zanka Nijiku from the shounen manga & anime Gachiakuta. Kind commenters have named me Crouch.
I made this Tumblr because it became apparent to me that the Janka community is full of kind and funny people I want to talk to. Below are some guidelines for how best to interact with me, as well as my Post Directory, explaining the personal tags I use to organize this blog.
Guidelines
This is an adult space.
Unfortunately, because of the nature of my work and because I am an adult myself, I don't want to interact with minors on this blog. If you send me a message, please be above the age of majority wherever you are from in the world.
There's no need to be shy.
Are you awkward? Great, me too! I do not have experience with being "online" as it were, and this is all very new to me. Perhaps naively, I'm just hoping to have fun and make friends.
Also, I have no idea how to use social media. If I do something incomprehensible, it's probably because I also don't understand what's going on.
I do accept constructive criticism.
Is something I wrote bothering you? Did I forget an important detail, make something super confusing, neglect to tag something upsetting, or other things of that nature? Feel free to let me know.

Do you have a writing prompt or a scenario idea for me? It is highly unlikely I will ever write it, but I encourage you to propose them regardless. Who knows, you might get me. Or you might get someone else!
If you are an author yourself and wish to request feedback on your own work, please do. Unless you specifically request constructive criticism, I will only tell you what I liked about it. Positive feedback is also very important to one's writing development!
Through it all, please allow some grace for me.
I'm currently recovering from a godawful case of burnout. I do appear to be getting better, which is why I'm able to write at all, but the fact remains that I have a very limited amount of energy that can be quite unpredictable. I have big aspirations and a great quantity of ideas, but whether or not they will come to fruition... that is somewhat up to the wind. I am very protective of my mental health, and if I feel that I'm starting to become unduly stressed by my Internet activities, I will pull back and preserve myself. Unfortunately, this means chapters may go unwritten and your messages may go unanswered. Sorry! I appreciate you regardless.

Hi! I just wanted to say I absolutely LOVE your works. Not to be Mushy on Main, but your Janka series was so incredible that it inspired me me to start writing. The level of quality you bring is incredible.
As for my question: Do you find it difficult to let finished works be, well, finished? Personally, I will release a fic or a chapter, feel satisfied for five seconds, and then look at it like the Lois staring at the pill bottle meme.

I'm so excited for you, and I hope you're having lots and lots of fun! What's been your favorite part of writing so far? Anything you particularly like doing, or that you're especially proud of?
To answer your question: Yes, absolutely. The second I get done with a draft, all I can see is everything I wish I had done better, and it's a struggle to escape the grasp of the eternal editing spiral. But, I've gone back and re-read some things I've let sit for a while, and now that some time has passed, I'm able to evaluate them more neutrally, and even pat myself on the back a little for the things I did well.
Hello Crouch. I really like your fics, I've read all of them a bunch of times. I think you nail so well the janka dynamic and the push and pull between the two, while also showing how great their chemistry is. I also think it's great how you include the violence of their relationship in your writing, the words always feel right and don't compromise, which is perfect for them. My favorite moments are when one of them slip and end up showing an ounce of vulnerability before immediately retracting. It's all really great. The only issue is that usually I would be reading all the fics you bookmarked, bc to write bangers you have to read bangers, right ? However since you're anonymous on ao3 i can't so I wanted to ask you if you had any fics suggestions by other authors ? Hope you have a great day and have fun writing you next fics

It's funny you mention my bookmarks, because even if I weren't anonymous, all of my bookmarks are still private anyway. But I will forever recommend the Catalyst series, also by an anonymous author. Looking back on it, reading this series is probably what made me start wanting to write Janka.
it's really sad zankyun had to quit due to his bpd (big penis disorder) because the image of him playing soccer is really good... his strong legs in the shorts... and then they ride up when he slides across the grass.... im crazy

The Question made me viscerally uncomfortable, I loved it. I also loved your meta, especially the very final line. No matter how you write your Janka and how emotionally constipated they are, it always comes through that they're in love, and it's one of my favourite things about your writing. ๐
I'm so happy to hear! The love is one of my favorite parts to write, too. Their relationship on the show as enemies led me to ask the question, all the way back in January, "What if they ended up really liking each other?" and I've been trying to answer it ever since.
In this case, the answer was, "It would give Jabber nightmares."
