As a bit of a heatwave happens in my area (not helped by my worries around overwatering), my money tree and planter pot need a bit of pruning! Both are still very healthy!

Croton on the Hudson.
Life is so weird. Perhaps some coffee will improve it. Not by it's taste. Not working today. Just resting with plants.
Plant Intro - Liquorice the croton
Liquorice is one of my older plants, he is a croton (Codiaeum variegatum 'Mammy') (shitty cultivar name omg) who has followed me back and forth to all my school dorms. His leaves are extremely variable, mostly thanks to his need to move from brighter to darker spots depending on temperature. That accounts for the colour, with him being more green then usual right now, but he also has a few leaves near the bottom there that grew in long and slender instead of curly and bulbous.
This is a plant full of surprises that always keeps me guessing! Although his relative fragility compared to my other plants worries me. Still, this plant has been a constant companion for years and is extremely important to me.
When I leave for university every fall some of my plants can’t come with me. Luckily for me I have a botanically inclined father so he takes care of my darlings for me. But I’ve always noticed he doesn’t rotate my plants as often as I might.
It’s a blessing and a curse really, because although it’s not great for the plant and when I first get home they all look a bit light starved clinging to my window, I’ll finally turn them and I suddenly get to appreciate how beautifully they’ve been growing <3

I had a horrible nightmare with Stabby getting damaged. It's good to wake up and find him normal and ok. Everyone is ok, my brain just created a stupid story.
Crotons do not want to move out of the way so I could clean. Look at them. Look at them standing in the way.
Look at this perfection.
I'm not mixing any substrates, we have what the store sells :-D.
His cotyledons are gone. He's not a baby anymore. Look at this young gentleman, officially in his "what the hell I'm going to do with another croton" phase.
Getting more and more variegated. Still a bit confused about it, but he's got the spirit. He was so, so tiny a year ago.
