#CrossRoadBlues 🇫🇷 (à Pays de la Loire, France)

Darn it these titles confuse and mislead me every time!

The first image was the basis for the cover of Crossroad Blues, and the second was the basis for The Magician's Child. As you can see, they're similar. They are both from the same set of images. When I found the set, I knew they would meet my standard practice of choosing an image that has an abstract connection to either the plot or the theme of the book in question. For Crossroad Blues, I needed something to signal Sam's imminent defeat, the destruction of her belief that she did not need to change her course of action. Thus, I centered the book's cover on The Tower card, which depicts a great failure. Since The Magician's Child depicts a change in Sam Hain's path, I needed something to show that, but I needed something else, as this book did not simply follow Crossroad Blues, but it resolved the consequences set forth in that book. The Magician's Child could not have happened without Crossroad Blues happening before it. Thus, I chose images from the same set to symbolize that connection. Now, I have always said that each of my books is a standalone, even though it is part of a series. And that's still true; however, given the significance of the changes to Sam's life and attitudes, one book was not enough to present this change. So, I chose this point in the story arc to be the "mid-season two-parter." Now, each book is a self-contained narrative, but read in succession, a larger story resolves itself...while raising more questions than it answers.
