YOU  KNOW  ,  USUALLY  IT’S  CHLOE  THAT’S  JUST  CHATTING  AWAY  WHILE  MAX  LONGINGLY  STARES  AT  THEM.    that’s  the  way  it’s  always  been  ,  since  they  were  kids  ,  when  they  were  in  highschool  ,  chloe  chatted  away  &  max  just  listened.   it’s  just  their  dynamic.   she’s  ever  grateful  for  it.    it  was  hard  for  max  to  focus  on  anything  ,  but  its’  easy  listening  to  chloe.    really  easy. 

“   you  know  ,  chlo.    i  think  of  that  night  often.   i  mean   ...   i  think  of  a  lot  of  things  ,  like  a  lot -  a  lot  ,  i  mean  - you  know -  you  have  to  hold  me  a  lot.   but  ,  off  topic  ,  adhd.   i  think  of  our  prom  night  a  lot.  ”     max  really  is  ,  just  sitting  there  ,  talking  away.    it’s  a  combination  of  just  checking  in  on  chloe  +  happiness  ,  happiness  for  girlfriend  ,  for  what  her  girlfriend  wanted.    max’s  hair  is  longer  ,  it  ages  her  ,  a  small  tattoo  on  her  wrist.   pencil  in  her  hand.   she’s  doodling.

company .   silently  sit  with  my  muse  to  comfort  them.

he’s  tired  now  ,  sora can’t remember the last time he really let himself  rest  .  not that he could ever have  afforded  to before  ,  even now  ,  he can’t  fully  bring his shoulders to slump or his hands to stop  twitching  at every loud sound.

but that’s why he was  here  ,  wasn’t it ??  arendelle had the  least  bad memories associated with it  ,  &  it’d been a while since he’d gone anywhere  &  not needed to fight.  what he  needed  was to relax.

he wasn’t very good at doing what he  needed  .

the door opens  &  sora’s head swivels on instinct  ,  but it’s just anna  ,  with a bright smile  &  two mugs of hot chocolate.  he doesn’t force himself to smile back  ,  instead simply leans against her when she sits next to him  ,  drinks set on the table before them.  she’s  warm  ,  &  there’s a  chill  that lingers in his bones still  ,  more than likely from literally  freezing  to death  ( he won’t tell elsa that  ,  he’s sure she’s got enough on her plate ).  he sighs quietly  ,  looking down to his hands before he grabs one of the mugs  ,  letting it warm his hands before he takes a sip.

            ❝    HAVE    YOU    BEEN    SETTLING    IN    ALRIGHT    ?    ❞    once    matters    had    been    settled    did    she    promptly    move    him    from    the    dark    dungeons    of    the    castle    to    one    of    the    numerous    guest    rooms    that    lined    the    candle-lit    corridors    .    he    was    placed    not    too    far    away    from    her    and    her    own    sister’s    chambers    (    not    wishing    to    isolate    him    off    from    where    most    foot    traffic    was    )    .    a    warm    bath    ,    clean    clothes    ,    and    food    of    his    choice    was    given    perhaps    too    quickly    .    her    staff    was    prompt    and    could    be    a    bit    overwhelming    in    their    duties    .    

“you  know  you  are  always  welcome  here.”katie  commented  as  looked  at  alec.  she  was  sure  that  he  knew  that  but  she  always  wanted  to  make  sure  he  KNEW  that.  “but  you  know  ,  you  can’t  just  HIDE  out  here.” of  course  she  was  sure  he  would  know  that. “as  hard  as  it  maybe  ,  you’ve  got  to  go  back  home  somewhen  and  sort  it  out...  but  know  that  me  and  andrew  will  always  support  you  no  matter  what.”

THIS  MOMENT  COULD  ONLY  BE  BEST  EXPLAINED  by  the  way  the  colors  fall  when  the  sunshine  hits  the  windows  of  a  building  covered  in  stained  glass .     art  that  was  wholly  beautiful  before,  iridescent  now,  each  change  of   𝙻𝙸𝙶𝙷𝚃   only  reminding  mary-sue  of  something  that  is  beautiful  at  all  angles,  inside  &  out .    the  ding-dong  of  the  bell  that  chimes  every  time  a  customer  walks  in  is  less  annoying  today,  at  this  moment,  it’s  annoyance  is  erased  with  an  aura  of  happiness  unbeknownst  before .     mary-sue’s  hazel  eyes  slowly  peel  away  from  anna .    they’re  finding  their  boss,  the  casual,  little  old  lady  with  a  warm  smile .     they  don’t  have  to  search  far.   

isn’t  it  quite  relieving  working  for  someone  that  supports  &  appreciates  you ?    mrs.  daley  had  that  warm  smile  on  her  face  when  mary-sue  looked  at  her  from  under  eyelashes .     mary-sue  already  knew  the  answer  when  they  asked  if  they  could  take  a  break     -  the  bakery  was  quiet  today  too .    mrs.  daley  cheerfully  answered  with  a  ‘go  ahead’   &   mary-sue  just  nodded  appreciatively .    “   i  think  i  might  have  two  minutes,   ”     they  answer  with  the  jest  of  carefree  humor .     they  smell  like  the  fading  cologne  they  wear  combined  with  the  fragrances  that  come  in  working  with  food .     the  odors  all  hidden  carefully,  of  course .     mary-sue  isn’t  quite  smiling,  but  the  pleasant  easiness  written  all  over  their  features  is  the  most  noticeable  thing  in  the  room. 

“Yes,” she starts, hushed and murmured as trails her hands UP AND UP AND UP to cradle her wife’s jaw, slipping to straddle Emily so she KNOWS she’s listening. “You do, but not in the way you are THINKING.” Whispered, the Winter Goddess leans down, nose to nose, forehead to forehead.

“You frighten me when you go SO FAR from me, but are also near. You frighten me when I cannot wake you from your slumber. You frighten me because I COULD LOSE YOU and I cannot tolerate a world without you, Emily Kaldwin.” It’s almost SCOLDING, her gentled voice, words murmured and pressed against lips as she leaves the SOFTEST of pecks against her wife’s.

“But you, YOURSELF, do not frighten me, kjære. You could never frighten me.”
